The important thing to remember is - Don't run "Activate" while the program is running (even in the tray).

So, to summarize what everyone has said, your choices are:
1. Run "Activate" first, then run "Setup"
2. Run "Setup" first, but:
a. uncheck the choice to start the program in the last field of the install wizard and finish the "Setup", then run "Activate", then start the program from the icon
b. hold off hitting the "finish" button in the installation process and run "Activate", then hit finish which will start the program

Personally, I always run "Activate" first for all software, then run "Setup". Once the program is running, I check to be sure it "Registered". (Help -> About) If it didn't, I turn it off, run "Activate" and then turn it back on. If it still isn't "Registered", I read the "Readme"! Kidding!!! I always read the "Readme" first, to see if there are additional steps involved in the Registration process. Running "Activate" first has never caused a problem in registering any GOTD software and usually does the trick.

Hi, tboneman, for a successful activation/registration:

Firstly:

unzip to your desktop or any folder you like, don't run setup/activation out of the .zip file.

if you activate first and then run setup or if you run setup first - is mostly a matter of taste.

when you run setup first, don't start the new programme or close it before activation.

when admin-rights are required (Vista) then choose the "Right-Click-Administrator" for activation and for setup and very often even with the first launch of the .exe file.

be patient and try all variations. :)

And don't forget to read the read-me. Especially when instead of an activation a registration with a key is needed.

Hi Tboneman,

The key is to run the "activate.exe" file before you open/launch/access the program. So, right after installation, when the installation menu asks if you want to launch the program, you must "uncheck" the "launch program" box. Then, run "activate.exe", then open the program, and it will be successfully registered.

I know this will work for sure because I tried it the other way (running the "activate.exe" after opening/launching/accessing the program), and it did not work.

You will have to first completely "uninstall" the program, and do a clean "re-install" in order to make this work. That is what I did.

have you install the program before running activate.exe ?
in the readme.txt it's say
Unzip the package you`ve downloaded and install the program by running Setup.exe.
Then run Activate.exe to register the software.

Something's not quite right. DL'd the program, unzipped, then installed. When it boots up, it says I have the 30 day trial version, and asks for a registration number. ????
