I had even download UT3 in preparation. Unfortunately, I decided to try and get my headset working to no avail so I decided to reinstall my sound card. BIG mistake. By 1:00AM Eastern I gave up. I managed to at least get my sound card working today but I&#39;m kind of wary about the headset. Plus it was very short notice due to the Steam announcement being so late. They only announced the free weekend on Thursday morning/Wednesday evning ); also it was nerly 2 months ago since I last set up a UT3 server and had completely forgotten that the server files were on my secondary computer, which I said in my message to you (on your steam community page) was offline at the moment. It took me longer than expected to set up a dedicated server because I had to re download the patches, titan files and the server files for my hard copy of the game as it was un patched on this computer. When I&#39;d managed that I had to disconnect my router but forgot to reboot my modem, which I usually always have to do, so coulld only get a LAN server to work initially. By the time I did get a server up and running the few who had turned in were too tired to play (including me. </p> <p>Next time I will definitely make sure the server is running a few hours ahead of time</p> <p>Sorry for any inconvinience to anyone else who may have happened to search for the serve. :(</p> <p>Pity things didn&#39;t work out last night as there may have been a couple of surprise copies of unreal tournamnet 3 to give away as well as th other prizes that were announced; (due to it being so cheap at the moment).</p> <p>Regards</p> <p>Whiterabbit.</p> <p>p.s I&#39;ll be deleting this topic later today. Maybe another time. :) I was hoping with the free weekend, we&#39;d get some new players joining. I thought it wuld be nice to introduce players not familiar with the game by giving then copies of the older games. Apart from the graphics upgrade and a few other things, the earlier games are just as good as UT3.</p> <p>After seeing the deal Steam has (I only saw it a few hours ago) it may have been just as easy for me to buy a deal and gift it out though, as three of the prizes need to be packaged and posted, which would cost about the same as the deal, which also includes a copy of UT3. It seems pointless running a competition if only a few players turn up for it, so I&#39;ve set a minimum of six players for the competition to run. </p> <p>If we fail to get the numbers I will still run the server, but no competition will be held and I will &#39;probably not&#39; attend myself; as something’s just cropped up for this Sunday - <em>a day trip with the kids on Sunday afternoon</em></p> <p>The server name will be Giveawayoftheday - Unreal Tournament<br /> and the password will be cholon (<em>all lower case</em>). </p> <p>I’ll post more details as and when needed.
