This will tell you whether your wireless card is faulty. Wireless cards rarely get operating problems/ physical faults. {<em>You computer is more likely to become obsolete before your wirless card</em>}; but, on the offchance that it is your wireless card that is at fault, see if your schools computer department has an ethernet connector that you can borrow, (you may already have one). I&#39;m presuming each room has ethernet sockets to connect to the schools network? </p> <p>The above is similar to what Chip is saying (<em>on re-reading Chips fixes</em>). </p> <p>If you have the software that usually comes with a wireless card, or your motherboard software, it may be a good idea to reinstall those; then follow Chips advice on updating all the drivers. Also if you have the software that comes with a wireless router, it can test your connection and find any problems that you may have. Do you have a laptop with a built-in WIFI adapter or an external one you attached via USB. Either way it could be something wrong with that. Try updating to the lastest driver for your adapter and if that doesn&#39;t work maybe it is acting up. Not much to say here. If it acts up regulary then I would take it to a computer repair shop if its the built in adapter. If its an external one then you could buy a new and better one and see if it works then. Even if you have the built-in one you may be able to buy an external one as well and switch to use that one somehow. But if this just happens once in a while then your best bet would be to put up with it. I had to bridge my modem before attaching it to my wireless router. If it isn&#39;t bridged then it may still only be set to only work for one user at a time. Your roommate may be stealing the only signal before you get a chance to connect. Try this. Try connecting by yourself with no one else on the network. If you still hae problems then your modem and router are fine and it&#39;s something solely on your computer.</p> <p>EDIT: Also I&#39;ve had problems connecting before during alot of rain. Idk maybe it&#39;s just a coincidence or maybe signals do interfere with moisture in the air but I have had slow or limited connection during bad weather. I am connected to a very strong wireless (my roommate doesn&#39;t have problems), and every time I connect to the internet, I get, at MOST, 2 maybe 3 minutes before the connection moves to &quot;identifying...&quot;, and stays there, until I disconnect it, and reconnect. I&#39;ve tried every suggestion Windows has given me, looked at my Network processes (And terminated them all at one point or another), and restarted the computer. I have no idea what is causing this. During my writing of this article, for example I have had to reset my network 2 times....and once more for the posting of it. </p>
