PhotoStory does a good job, however, do note that the transitions seems to be choppy at times. Also, you'll need a whole lot of free disk space, at least 4 times the size of your source photos as PhotoStory copies them to the temp directory to work on them. One last note, PhotoStory seems to make the video in a low resolution unless you specify otherwise. On the last screen, click Settings and select in the drop-down list your preferred resolution.

I was going to suggest you use Microsoft PhotoStory 3 as well, because it does a great job allowing you to put your pictures in the order you want them to be and then, as mentioned, you can add music in the background. It also pans and zooms the pictures as it's playing making it a great program! It turns them into WMV files, but I'm sure you can then convert to avi.

Hey, you could try Microsoft PhotoStory. It makes a very nice slide show and you can add music to it as well as a number of different transitions. It will output your sideshow as a wmv file but you could convert it to and avi using a program like Super.

Could use open office to create a slide presentation & convert it to .avi with format factory...

Or use windows movie maker. Many how-to videos on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLzc0OVcFrI

Thanks, tried it today. Seems it can't make avi slideshows.
(forgot to mention 1st post, 'slideshow')
It did convert some images to single avi's, but the images
got to be about 40k or bigger for it to do that.

ps- wish this message center would let posters edit their
messages beyond a few minutes.
