Those would be the comments. Also, if you look at hers, you'll notice that a few of her poem titles are bolded which means she won an award for that particular poem. That site is where I met my wife. She commented on one of my very first poems and we struck up an online friendship, which turned into a long distance relationship in 2005. Then in 2008 she moved all the way from New York City to live with me in Illinois.

Here's my favorite of the poems I have access to...

To All of Our Loved Ones
By me =p

I’d like to take this time to recognize,
All of the loved ones that were in our lives.
They cannot be with us here today.
The years roll by, and we’ve parted ways.
It’s tough to sit back and think of those days.
The day my neighbor committed suicide,
Or when my favorite uncle died.
How about when your mother passed a few years back?
Or the day your brother suffered a heart attack?
To our soldiers who gave their lives in Iraq.
How about your son who died from cancer,
Or all of your friends who thought suicide was the answer?
For every celebrity who had a tragic life.
For every person who died while under the knife.
For everyone we lost at the World Trade.
For every man who died a slave.
For all the Jews who were slain.
For every daughter that O/D'ed on cocaine.
For the teacher shot at Columbine?
For every person who was ever “mine.”
For mothers who die while giving birth.
For every angel who ascended from Earth.
We want to tell you that we love you and miss you.
You’re in our thoughts, prayers, and everything we do.
We’re here because of the path you paved.
God took you away, but we forgave.
We know you’re all looking over us each and every day.
And that is why we pray....

For every person who has ever been loved.

Gracias amigo. Glad you like them, although the convenience store story is probably my least favorite of all my writings. My older poems are slightly better in my opinion, and now you've got me wanting to go buy an external floppy so I can have them on my computer again.

Mine's rather old and doesn't have nearly as much as all the one's I've written over the years (listen to me try to sound old at 24, however I have probably written over 200 poems.) I've not really written much since December of 06, with the exception of papers for college. If I can find an external floppy drive, I may be able to access many of my older poems. I saved them all to floppy (back when cd-r's were first coming up and only the rich could afford them or a thumb drive.)

Copmom....basically the mods made the decision to not allow that type of thing here because it's against the rules, and could cause a lot of problems if he actually won. So they told him, "no", but he doesn't take well to being told, "no" so he attacked them and then left....pretty much like 2 years ago. That's it in a nutshell. MHO is that they did absolutely the right thing.

Mods: If I've said too much just delete me :)

I still don't see what the big stink was about! He proposed something, some of us chose to agree with it, some didn't. Plain and simple. No biggy, and no reason to accuse anyone of things they might not have meant, and no reason for anyone to take anything personally or have their integrity attacked. Sometimes we are too quick to judge! Life's too short!

Yes I agree. Dan has asked for all of his posts (and that includes his original posts from 2-3 years ago) to be deleted now. I have only honoured his request to delete the poetry though. I think the posts he made with respect to games were well recieved 2 years ago, and I think it would be a pity to delete the links that he created to download sites. Besides it would mess up G@rgoyles freegames synopsis. :)

MIRTH

Joy and sadness together make Life.
But always happy, no challenge makes.
And always sad soon turns to strife.
No extreme can give whatever it takes.
Thus, let us smile at our woes,
And weep in the throes
Of our deepest sorrows
Only for a few hours.

The sun will always shine again
After the rain. It can even leave
A rainbow memory in our brain --
Reminding us whenever we grieve.
Despite the insanity of earth,
One moment of mirth
Outdoes all, and is worth
The persuing of its powers.

I wrote this for a faraway penpal of mine. I edited out the end of the poem cause I used their name but it's still a nice poem I think.

"A Parted Angel"

I go through life waiting for change
It never comes, my heart screams out
There are things I still find strange
God sees my fears and what I doubt

He chooses others to comfort me
To cheer me up and brighten my day
Helpful strangers I don't always see
Though all that matters is what they say

To me they are angels sent from God above
They have their own life yet end up in mine
From afar they better the life that I love
Though I still wish our lives would intertwine

-Lester Kyle

Since I don't come here on a regular basis, I have missed this thread. The loss, of course, is mine. I have always lacked audience for my Nobel efforts at poetry. So here goes,
GOTD
Sometimes we dont like the giveaway
But for God's sake dont go away
Sometimes our comments are moderated
Seldom this is tolerated
Someone should moderate the moderator
The idea is to help the software creator
One person who cant understand is my wife
She thinks I need a life
For this, I say, there is a game giveaway

Thank you both very much, IdunnobutIwastold and Caulbox, for your poems. They're both wonderful. Keep 'em coming.

By the way, in the spirit of full disclosure (I forgot to mention this before) I did not compose the poem about the gum-chewing cow. This poem has been around for a very very ......very long time (but its author is unknown/anonymous).

I did, though, compose the 1st poem (tribute to the GOTD forum & rating system.)

With that said, I very much look forward to reading more beautiful, inspired poems.

I wrote this a while back but never did post it...this seemed like the right time.
(Mods: don't judge and delete till you read to the end.)

I came here just so I could gripe about the giveaway
because the one that you just gave was here a prior day.
You’ve got your nerve, you no good rats, how could you be so cruel
Your own name, “GGOTD” breaks it’s own set rule.

“Game Giveaway of the Day” is a farce, a lie, a cheat.
I hate you guys and all you do…..I kick you with both feet!
You don’t give games on every day, you only do weekends
How dare you lie and cheat on us, “such loyal, loving friends”?

We deserve more, we’ve earned it all, we’ve worked and paid the price,
So you had better get off your butts or we won’t be so nice.
We’ll gripe and yell and throw a fit, and then complain some more,
And if you don’t buck up we’ll go and find another store

Where we will pay for all we get and then you guys will see
We don’t need you, cause you just give us stuff that’s all for free

.....oh ......wait ......was that for FREE? OOPS……SOWWWYY!!
