Are you proposing?

I do regularly delete my Temporary Internet files, do disc clean-up and disc defrag. All of my games seem to be in either their own folder or in the GameHouse or BFG folder and so far I haven't had any problems in finding them to uninstall. So I am not totally helpless - just mostly helpless.

I would suggest you install all your games to a seperate games folder instead of allowing them to auto install. All installers allow you to choose where you want to put your software. Then it'll be easier to uninstall then (especially if you can't find an uninstaller). Some games also install a folder into your My documents folder, and usually contains your saves, configuration data and screenshots.

Loads of community members recommend revo uninstaller. Just Google it if you want a decent free uninstaller.

I'd also do regular cleaning such as your internet cache (accessible via a right click on your internet icon (in internet explorer), or via the firefox toolbar and definitely do a regular defragmentation of your hard drive. (at least once a month, or even once a week if you do a lot of downloading.

Regards

Terri,

The amount of stuff on your hard drive is related to the amount of hard disk space you have, not memory. Memory is what is actually running. You may have some stuff running you don't need all the time (such as Adobe). There are ways (using msconfig or Vista's Software Explorer), to limit what loads at boot time.

WhiteRabbit's GameBoooseter link should help you as well.

I love you Whiterabbit. I've been concerned about the memory issue for a while since I've been installing so many games. I try to uninstall them when I'm finished but there's still a lot of stuff on my hard drive.

No longer, lol

I would have replied earlier, but I've spent all night clearing out my computer spares cupboard. Dumped loads of old components and decided to build up an arcade games only computer with what reasonable spares I have left. I discovered that one of the spare graphics cards was actually quite a good one. I thought it only had 128Mb of RAM, but it turns out it had 256Mb, so that'll be going in the computer. the only thing I need to buy is some memory as there’s only 512Mb of it as I’ve already given all the decent memory away; hardly enough to run much these days. Thankfully you can buy a matched pair of 1Gb sticks for less than £20 in the UK.

Anyway 'scuze the waffle.....

Go to the download page Terri and download the latest video driver. you don't need any of the other drivers only the latest one. They usually download as a zipped file which unpacks to an executable, which means all you need to do is click on it and it should automatically install the drivers for you; if it doesn't you'll have to manually place the drivers. They usually go in the System folders which can be located inside the windows folder.

Which Operating System (OS) are you running?

If you still continue to have problems it could be that you don't have enough memory. his can be solved by using a freeware program called Game Booster which can be downloaded from:

http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Whenever you want to play a game just run game booster. It closes down any background program that’s not required while playing your games. Once you finish playing you can then revert back to normal.

Other things you could try is to defrag your hard drive. Sometimes a severely defragmented drive can cause problems.

While you're at it get a demo of version tracker from:

http://www.versiontracker.com/windows/

When the program is installed it will scan your computer and give you a report as to which drivers are out of date. The demo will only tell you what’s needed. The full version automatically gets all the drivers for you. Once you've listed the outdated drivers I'd then uninstall version tracker otherwise you'll find it switches on every time you boot your computer.

Whatever you do, if you continue to have problems just ask and I or someone else will try to help

I did the same thing when I downloaded "World Mosaics 2" from Big Fish. I also got a free game because of my problem with Prism and that was what I chose. After I got it, I found they had just fixed it. There was a bug in the cursor setup. I didn't know if I got the fixed version or not so I removed it and got it again (using their instructions).

These games must either use the registry or something like "AppData" (in Vista) for the configuration and stats and that isn't cleaned up on an uninstall.

That should be a hint - check your temporary folders or other (normally hidden) areas for folders left over when you uninstall ANYTHING!

Darn!
Oh well lots of other games ...lol
YES that hint system was great and I loved the "travel documentary" aspect..
I lost the Island of Hope but I am sure it will come around again...

That IS weird; I found that with Natalie Brooks(from two different game providers, yet it had my name in the welcome screen...spooky!

:)

BFG got back to me and walked me through the process but Prism still won't play.

I also love Berlin Nights. It was one of my favorites. I loved that you could get extra hints particularly the one that highlighted multiple objects. I still haven't finished the first one - Island something. Forgotten Riddles was good but I'm glad I didn't pay more the $3 for it. I'm not sure I'll play it again. I downloaded Unicorn Killer today and was surprised when I opened it that my name was already in it and it said I was in the middle of a game. I must have downloaded it from Shockwave and completely forgotten about it. i still can't over how you can uninstall a game and reinstall it at a later date and it remembers your progress.

Terri, have you tried instant messaging White Rabbit or one of the other computer gurus here?
I am sorry but I know nothing about downloading drivers; I got mine updated lately but had to get a friend to do it(and stupidly didn't see what he did after getting the driver downloaded...)
As far as good hidden object game go, I just loved the Mystery Stories: Berlin Nights
Have you played it? It is quite long and has a fun story plus different things to do plus hidden objects..

As I mentioned in another thread I am still having a problem playing both Prism and Gamehouse's Lost Worlds. BFG was trying to help me but kind of left me in the middle (they did give me a credit for another game) so now I'm not sure what I have on my computer and what I should do from this point.

First they sent me this:

"Thanks for sending that Dr Felix file. It really helped me with more ideas in terms of additional suggestions that I can make. After analyzing the files, it seems that your video driver is out of date. This may be the reason why Prism doesn't work. If you could, please visit the link I've provided below to download the latest drivers for your video card. This may help get the game working (let's keep our fingers crossed).

1. Visit http://www.sis.com
2. Click "Downloads"
3. Check the box that says "I accept to the Above" and click "I Agree"
4. Under "Stepy by Step", please select Windows XP
5. Select IGP Graphics Driver
6. Select SiX66x/SiS76x & Sis67x
7. Download the driver"

I did all the steps but I asked them whether I was supposed to download all 3 packages that were displayed on the SIS site, I only downloaded the first one because I thought it was the most recent version and wasn't sure I was supposed to download all of them.

Then they sent me this which I haven't done yet:

"I've revised the instructions. Please follow these below as they may get Prism working.

1. Visit http://www.viaarena.com/Drivers.aspx
2. Choose Windows XP
3. Choose Integrated Graphics
4. Select KN400 & KM400 UniChrome integrated graphics
5. Download the driver"

So where am I with these drivers and should I download anything else?

I don't know anything about this area.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good Hidden Objects game I can get with my credit?

Thanks for any help.
