Alex.....glad that worked for you. I keep mine turned off all the time and only use it when the batteries in my mouse die. That used to annoy me so bad when I'd be trying to type something up. UGH!

Hello all: thanks for the help. I did a bit of cleaning, too many animals walking around on my desk and disabled the touchpad. Later did the trick as far as I can tell. no more jumping around while I'm typing. I never used the touchpad anyway .. Thanks again! AlexSJ

Last time I had such problems with my keyboard, it was solved by a new mouse :)

Alex.....it's the touchpad. When you're typing turn off the touchpad and your problem will be solved. On my Acer I do that by holding down the Fn key and hitting F7. To turn it back on just do the same. Yours may be something different so you'll have to search on how to temporarily disable your touchpad.
Good luck!

If you look this problem up on the Internet, there are a lot of people with the same problem, and not a lot of answers to fix It,there are a couple of suggestions though, goto control panel/mouse/pointer options and make sure that auto move the pointer to the dialog box is unchecked and also hide pointer while typing is unchecked that seems to have fixed the issue for a few people.

usually I've found these kinds of problems to be actual problems in the keyboard itself- damage to the membranes or intermittent shorted traces or something stuck under a key. depending on the touchpad features, I've seen the touchpad do it on one laptop...

Hello there, it's starting to drive me crazy:
I'll be typing something and suddenly the cursor changes position and jumps to the beginning of the test or the line. I type pretty fluently and usually do so without much looking and then suddenly I'm somewhere else in the text.
I noticed this happening in Skype, also when posting in the forum here and in Outlook. I'm not aware of any shortcut command, but it's got to be something and I don't know where else to look. By the way while typing this it already happend twice:
1) right after ... or the line. I tu (the following p jumped after .. crazy: )
2) right after ... any shortcu (it jumped up to somew__here)

I'm using a Laptop and XP ...
Pura vida, AlexSJ
