Just a few notes about Strike Ball 2 Deluxe -

I'm not sure about the 6 kinds of enemies but 29 bonuses sounds about right.

The description says 200 3D levels. If you look at the installed files, there are 400 leveld! You can even get a quick look at the ones that are closed if you look at the jpg of the 5 pages (for each of 4 groups) of 20 images. You can't play them until you get past the levels before, but you at least know they're there.

The display gets very busy with balls, exploding blocks, power-ups, dropping bombs, dropping bonuses and weapons firing which makes it rather challenging. It's a lot like the series of Magic Ball (also from Alawar).

The one thing I don't agree with is "Full Technical Support". From Alawar? That's a pathetic joke!

Thanks all, that worked the charm for Strike Ball, now does anyone know how to get their Mini Golf Championship to run as that just 'stops working' and none of the above makes any difference.

Thanks for the linke. I've got 32 bit rather than 64 bit but the basic instructions worked. Simply set the compatibility mode to XP SP2 and it worked like a charm!

I'm sorry to hear that the problem did not resolve on your PC and OS, Dragonlair. I can sense your frustration. I don't have the answer but in an attempt to be helpful
perhaps you may or may not find a solution at the following link, which expresses the exact problem with Strike Ball 2.

http://www.vistax64.com/vista-games/124241-parental-control-problem-games.html

I hope you can get it resolved and that you would hear from Alawar.

Best Regards

Firebride, that procedure may work for Vista Basic Home SP2 but it does NOT work for Vista Premium SP2! I followed your instructions to the letter and that message remains. It clearly states that the Vista Parental Controls do not allow me to run this game and I don't have Parental Controls even turned on! The only people who access this PC is my husband and myself. Why would we need Parental Controls?

You indicated that you tested it while the UAC was off. I got the message while it was off, while it was on, when in admin mode, any way! I just cannot run this game.

The only thing this trick did was get it to be recognized as a "full" game instead of a demo. Big deal - it's registered but it won't allow me to play!

I did file a support problem on it for all the good that will do!

I am rather fed up with Alawar!

This is a solution for Vista Users getting error message with STRIKE BALL 2.
To launch game, you need administrator rights or reset parental controls to run it under Vista."

1. Go into C: My Games.Alawar
a. Under Downloads, delete the Strike Ball 2 exe program
b. Under MyGames/Alawar, delete the 1564 files (pertains to Strike Ball 2)

2. Now go into the Control Panel Search Bar, type in "UAC" (User Account Control)
a. Go into "UAC"
b. Uncheck the box to temporarily disable the UAC function.
c. Restart your computer (Must do this for change to take effect)

3. With UAC turned off, redownload the game. I did so and it now loads/launches
Strike Ball 2 just fine. The error message is gone.

4. Go back into the Control Panel Search bar. Type in "UAC" once again
and access it.
a. Recheck the UAC box to re-enable it. Restart your computer.

You should now be good to go.

Enjoy! I have Vista Basic Home Sp2 and it solved the problem. Hope this helps.
God Bless Y'all.

Alawar's new game is available. This month it's "Strike Ball 2 Deluxe". However, there are 2 problems. AGAIN it tags as "demo" within Gamebox even after unlocking but that's not why I can't play it. It insists that I either have to have administrator rights or reset parental controls to run it under Vista.

I don't have parental controls turned on and I'm using the admin user. I even set to run as administrator and I get that message. I uninstalled it!

Alawar has got to get it's act together. I have been trying for over 6 months for them to answer a simple email about the Gamebox/demo version problem from at least 5 directions and still no response. I can't see trying to ask them about this problem will get me any better results.

How are they supposed to keep customers if they ignore them????

Alawar changed the game today. This month's freebie is Froggy's Adventures. It's a silly little platform game. I got it as much to check out Alawar as anything else. Again - It says I have the full version ("Thank you for Registration") but the list in the Gamebox shows it as a demo - not the full version.

What do I have to do to get Alawar to recognize that ALL of my games from them are full games (from GOTD as well as Gamebox)?

Did you "unlock" it after you downloaded it? I haven't played that many levels yet but from what I see, It looks like about 37 Kids levels and about 70 "regular" levels. I still get a preview-page that says "thanks for Registration" so I'm guessing the "unlock" worked. It used to be if you had the full version, you didn't get that page, you went right into the game. Only the last 2 I've downloaded during their freebies have done this (I think).

However, this game does NOT show as a full game in the list of "my games".

This month's game isn't really my cup of tea, but I've saved the registration key for it anyways. It always baffles me how the Game Box figures out how to generate a key for each game. Maybe it's distributed in a config file?

You don't have to use Gamebox to access the game. However, the shortcut makes it look like you do and even like you don't even have the full game! They just started that a few months ago.

GameBox's list of "full" games is far from accurate. ALL my Alawar games are free, either from them or from here. Very few of them show as full, just demo, INCLUDING Snowy Treasure Hunter 2 that I just downloaded, installed AND Unlocked!

They won't answer emails so I can't figure out why. Stephen (Whiterabbit) said he would check into the email answering problem for me when he get some time.

You only need Gamebox to download and install the games.

Thanks, FireBride... always nice to have a reminder of what the present free game is. It turns out I already have this one, but just realized I can only access it via the Game Box. It used to be that I could make shortcuts of the games and access them that way. IOW, the game was actually downloaded into my Alawar folder. I'm guessing they stopped doing that, and you can only play them "online" through the Game Box? Strange, but I just noticed that. I had forgotten I had so many free games from them, because I only have icons for the "older" giveaways.

Alawar is offering SNOWY TREASURE HUNTER 2 for free via the Alawar Game Box.
To get this game, just download and install the Alawar gamebox at the following link:
