Hi,
Yes, shade45, I think this site is useful, GOTD offers a fairly good selecton, usully full and up to date versons of software that you can use as a registered user, for free. Of course there are catches, to being free, that are stated in the "terms and conditions" with every download, "no updates", kind of sucks, and if you want to reformat your HD or move the program to another computer after the download period is over, it is not that easy to do, and then it may not be a legal copy anymore, that is kind of a grey area for me. Maybe one of the MODs could clarify that?
Compared with using a demo version, they are quite often not the full programs or is time limited. Quite often there are pressure tatics built right into demo software to buy, buy , buy; that has not happened in the software I downloaded and registered from here, so far.
I find it useful to compare with what I have already, trying out new types of software, that I am unfamilar with, and some of the games are not too bad. I have not kept very many programs that I have downloaded from here, but that is my own personal taste in software.
After all is said and done, it is a sales gimick, and I think a good one, you get to try befor you buy, without a lot of B.S. you may find in demo software, and if you like a particular piece of software enought to buy it, there is no harm in that.
Have a good one,
Barry

No to both questions. Or it's possible, but requires some work and isn't provided as an alternative by this site. (I would also argue that it's against the rules, but some have claimed that it isn't.)

However, I think the site is still very useful. Most people don't re-install their OS very often (or at least they shouldn't! If they do something is amiss.) And even if you would do a re-install after, say, one year, you can get a lot out of a software in that time, and if you really like it (which you should know by then) you have the option to buy it.

Hi,
I've found casually this site ona blog...and i've immediately liked it.
I appreciate your initiative... but soon i had some doubts, and so i want to ask to someone who knows this site better than me.

The most important thing i wanted to kow is: if i download today the "giveaway of the day" and install it and in the next days or weeks for some reasons i will have to format my pc(naturally i will conserve the installer) the program i've previously downloaded is still valid?
And the second quest: if i download the software of the day i can install it tomorrow??

Thanks for the attencion and excuse me for my english,i'm italian.
Guessin' someone will clear my ideas...tnx
