Hi to all my friends from the over the hill gang. I hope you and your families are all doing well. For me so far so good, treatments are going well and just taking it one day at a time. I always make sure to stop and smell the roses, every day is a gift. I do check in often to see what’s going on, but do not post as much as before.

To Goody, read about your problems in the other thread and hope the best for you. Will keep all of you in my prayers and I ask you do the same for me. Just a short post for now.
Yours truly
The Exalted Grand Poobah of the Planet VIAGRA

"I've had too many posts and e-mails that I put some sweat into disappear into the great unknown."
Who does not know this? For Firefox there are at least two add-ons which work very well:
AutoSaveText - Automatically saves and restores text you typed in forms or textareas. and

Lazarus - Never lose anything you type into a web form again! Lazarus securely auto-saves all forms as you type, so after a crash, server timeout, or whatever, you can go back to the form, right click, select "recover form", and breath a sigh of relief.

Another useful helper for Firefox: Resizeable Textarea.

Happy posting!

If it takes me a while to compose a post thename, as it often does, I copy my post. Then I can reload and see if anyone else may have posted with the same thoughts. If so, I can not submit mine, or modify it accordingly. Actually, I copy before I hit submit, anyway. I've had too many posts and e-mails that I put some sweat into disappear into the great unknown.

Sure, thenameipicked, there could be other solutions, but we can't change anything.
None of the suggestions made by the users of these forums are realised.
Well, I don't think such a message is really important. Just reload before you write and you are up to date. As I always need some more time for my posts than a native speaker, I mostly pre-write my answer in Notepad, then copy and paste it into the reply box. If in the meanwhile someone else had posted, I'm able to take this into account -
or I just ignore it, as it is mostly not important who writes first.

I think I said one thing wrong. I just posted 2 to a thread in the last hour, with someone else posting in between, and I can still edit them both. Even after logging out and back in again to test it. Could be a glitch, though, because I was editing the first one while the other person was posting. Probably does work, though. Probably, the one hour limit is the only restriction, regardless if anyone else posts, but I can't say for sure.

Scubaguy.. great to see you posting again.. missed you! And you are right, we do only have one hour to edit what we post.. but, if I take my time in what I'm typing (and I have a big problem with transposing things due to one hand typing faster than the other from arthritis), then I don't need to edit.

Hi, scubby, I'm happy to see you :)))

Yes, you are correct, we demigods have a lot of cryptic powers.
So I was able to put the missing "R" into the title: Foums became mysteriously Forums.
Maybe one of the Mods may even have a cure for my bad English.

Midori, the edit button works for an hour, and yes you have to be logged in.
When there is a burning need to edit your comment after this time, please shout loud or just send a PM. One of the many Mods will be there with a helping keyboard and edit your typo.

Thanks, GMMan... but what I meant was, if you're not logged in and are just looking at the posts, you won't see the "edit" option under your post. Once you're logged in, you will. So I must've checked the forum to add to my post without logging in yet, and noticed that the "edit" option was gone... hence I thought it didn't last as long as has been said. But yes, I realize that you stay "logged in" for a certain period of time. Now does anyone know what that is? LOL! (seriously, it doesn't matter... takes but a sec to log in) *&:-)

Just to clear it up,you have one hour to edit your post, and the person making the post is the only one who can see the word edit under thier post.If you look at the bottom of my post you do not see the word edit but I do. Mods are the only others that can edit your post, they are all seeing and have many powers that we mortals do not have.

I hear you, watcher... I guess I was referring more to experiences on a forum that wasn't moderated well (or at all), and someone would say something causing a remark, then go back and change what they said. Fortunately, those type of kids games don't happen here. It drives me nuts also, if I realize I've made a typo or an omission. Just seems to me I've gone back within minutes to change something and the option was already gone, but then it might be my time warp problem. *&:-D

Just an FYI, Midori. I'm a little obsessive about going back and editing my posts. As a sort of semi-pro writer, I can't shut off my training and am constantly going back and correcting omissions and typos, etc. I'm pretty sure the ability to edit lasts until the one hour mark, or, as you mention, until the next person posts. I've seen my post be the last post and the edit link disappearing and being replaced by the 1 hour mark.

Agree. Plus, the ability to Edit only lasts for five minutes or so? Not sure what the time limit is for that, and then it's gone. Which is good, because you don't want people going in and changing what they said after someone else has replied to it.

I agree whole-heartedly here. There's been many times where I didn't use markups correctly and had to go back and edit my post. If there were some kind of preview option, this would save alot of time and hassle and hopefully tidy things up a bit.

It'd be great to be able to preview what you write on the forums reply box as you would on the main site's comment box. It'd be useful to see if your formatting is going to be parsed correctly and if you made a mistake that you might not be able to catch in the regular post box.
