@GMMan

I need to try Anvil Studio with my Son. He can reproduce almost any sequence of notes that he has heard in the past. I wish that I had the program last night when he came over to our house. I will be ready next time.

The feature list for for the free version of Anvil Studio shows this to be a very complete program. Know any more like this?

@Whiterabbit
You get around. Are you back from your vacation? How did the package do in the mail?

Another one I remember is Anvil Studio. Directly opens a MIDI file, and also has tone recognition so you can sing the note that you want to enter if you don't know what letter it exactly is.

A few months ago a musical score program was offered on GOTD. As far as I know all the comments were made on the “giveaway announcement" page rather than here in the forms. No forum topic was opened that day or on the day that another musical score program was offered. I have not found an appropriate place to post information on musical programs - that is programs involving music other than actual sound files. I have started this topic in hopes that this can become a place to post adjunct musical program information (programs other than those used solely to play or record music). My hope is that this area will not be deleted and will remain as part of the forum. It is my hope that the topic will expand as people find this location. I for one enjoy programs that fit this category

The program that I will mention today will hopefully satisfy some of the GOTD readers that have asked for musical score software. I have written several times about an English website abbreviated V3.com and its sub-website "Download Junkie". V3 and “Download Junkie” are websites that host free as well as inexpensive quality software. Currently the program being featured is titled "Musescore Notation Software". It is a program that can be used to “ record, edit, and print MIDI music from a keyboard or other compatible instrument".

"MIDI music is very versatile because the notes can be edited and used to produce musical notation as well as the audio. ‘Musescore’ is a comprehensive editor for producing music in this way."

"It places ‘note heads’ in the right place automatically and 'draw beams' (the lines (sic) horizontal lines (sic) that connect some notes together) that cross the base and treble clef's." - (sic), (sic), (sic)

No more quotes. There should be enough information here to either interest or turn off musical score aficionados. The program received four stars from the reviewer and got a five-star rating from users.

The cost is quite reasonable in that the program is being offered without charge.
