Gonwk, I was looking back through the forums and Bubby made a suggestion for people who's downloads weren't activating that might, though it's farfetched, apply to use. Do you have your IE set up to go through a proxy server? You rarely need that in a home setup. If you've never checked that: then Internet Options>Connections tab>Local Area Networks (LAN) settings and click on the button. Then uncheck the proxy server bubble.

The only other thing I can think of: have you looked into your firewall settings?

Gonwk, I think they're afraid of driving too many commenters away. Even though GOTD doesn't spam you, and doesn't require personal info. - and could post a notice to that effect - many people are reluctant to sign up, especially considering how many bad behavors there are out there. I lurked around for 6 months before I joined the forums. (I'll bet the members fondly remember those quieter days. LOL)

As to your (I'm confident) tech problem, some have suggested that certain network settings don't play well with GOTD, though I've never seen anyone be able to narrow it down. I suspect that's a likely possbility. Again, I'd create a 2nd account as a test. If that one doesn't go through, which would be my bet, then you'll know it's tech. I don't remember from your previous posts if you've tried your account from another machine like your local library. If that doesn't work, either, then maybe somebody has done something, accidentally I'm sure, and your blocked.

nice one Gwonk, I hope you've solved the problem. :) I'm not quite back from my vacaton yet a few more days to go before we fly back to the UK. I've just been getting withdrawal symptoms, lol.

I'm only just settling down to being here and wish I had a few more weeks to go as there's so much to see. We both used to teach so that we could take six week vacations, but since the accident have had to be satisfied with two weeks at a time because we can't afford the extended holiday yet. Hopefully when I'm compensated things will be different :)

sorry for going off topic.

Hi folks,

@ WhiteRabbit ...yeah, I guess you are back from your vacation and the GAMES will start being posted. BTW, Thanks for your input to my delimma. I will try your suggestion.

@ Watcher13 ... Thanks for the JAva link ... I verified and I am on JRE 6.13. I am hoping that my case is more of Technical Issue ... because I try to keep my comments to "Useful Input" so the next person can benefit or make up their mind on a Software.

@ BuBBy ... that "Link" that you gave me it did give me more "Info" and "Insight" ... BTW, FYI, I did save it for my Future Reference.

A Thought occurred to me while I was reading Bubby's link ... why not make all the commenters to sign in with a "Valid" account ... like this Forum is ... then if someone is a Constant bother or rude ... then Warn and if does not follow your Rules then Remove his/her account. This will Save the MODs a ton of time ... instead of reading every single message. And waiting for "Moderations" ... what an Annoying concept ... what in the world is a comment good for when I have only couple of hours to go before the GAOTD will expire and someone might have a Response that can help me be swayed one way or another.

BTW, I LOVE GAOTD and especially the Game GAOTD. :D

THANKS a lot for all of your HELPS!

G! :)

I'm pretty sure people can be, if not blocked, at least blacklisted. I saw somebody the other day under a slightly different name, and I'd be willing to bet he started a new account because, formerly, all he did was insult people. He was much more polite in his new incarnation.

I doubt that's happened to you gonwk. You might consider starting a new account as a test, anyway. If that doesn't work, it's probably technical, which is my guess. I've had the comments act funky, sometimes. Maybe, it's browser related. What are you using? I believe GOTD is using standard java in it's page coding, and though some people disagree when I say this, I think you have to keep your java fairly up to date with IE or you'll have problems on the site. If you want to try that, the current version is 6.13. Though, I'm no lover of java, enough pages use it that I'm not sure you can surf smoothly without keeping it fairly up to date. You can download here:

http://www.java.com

WR is, as usual, on top of it. I copy to clipboard just in case there's a glitch. As you may know, if it goes through, you'll get the "comment awaiting moderation" underneath your comment. If it goes through twice, you'll get the "you've already said that" message. If you never get either - or, especially, don't even see your post - it's not going through, and I'd say it's definitely technical.

Odd. Never happened to me.

Before you post your comment copy it to the clipboard then after you've posted it paste the copy and try to post that. If your comment is getting through to the giveaway comments page it should come up with a message saying something like "you've alrady said that"

That way you can at least confirm that your messages are getting through.

regards

Hi folks,

What is the deal ... every time that I post some comment in the GAOTD Software of the day "Comments" area ... and I do use my Logname and E-Mail ... the following happens ...

1) The post does NOT pop-up right-away. OK, so I read somewhere that "Comments" have to be moderated.

2) So even after moderation ... NONE of my comments have EVER been posted in the Software Review page.

Q: Am I blacklisted!?!? Or do you even have that? If so, just tell me so I am NOT wasting my time ... typing away a Review. :D

Thanks,

G! :)
