Watcher13 is correct. That's all it takes to automatically run as admin. You will be prompted every time you play if you want to run but you learn to live with that.

Solitaire Master 2 does work fine in Vista but it's best if you keep it (and all products - games especially) out of Program Files. In Admin mode, it will keep your stats, your favorites and other settings just fine. In "normal" mode, it won't save any information.

You may need to make your own shortcut. If I remember my install right from 2 years ago, the default shortcut doesn't bring up the game. You may have to go looking into the installed game folder and make your own shortcut of the executable.

I checked with Big Fish Games and they admit that a few of their games do require admin mode to run properly in Vista. Magic Vines is the only one I have that does require it (I have 10 now).

Hey, Darnell. You can either right click on the shortcut on the program's executable itself. Go to the bottom of the right click menu and select properties. You'll get a box with 3 or 4 tabs (4 from the shorcut, 3 from the executable). One of these is "Compatibility". Near the bottom you'll see a checkbox that says:

"Privilege Level

 Run this program as administrator"

Check that and you're taken care of.
Happy computing.

How do I set the properties of my shortcut to "Run as Administrator" to bypass their shell? I've tried and tried to run my Solitaire Master 2 on Vista, but when I try to play it, it says, "this file is empty", the disk is brand new. Thanks for any help/

They can't charge me because I haven't given them any charge information!

I checked my receipts from last night and none have any mention of the club. I did sign up for "My Game Space" but that was free and again I never gave any credit or charge information.

I did note one thing on one of their games -- Note to all Vista users. If you choose "Magic Vines" as one of your freebies, be aware that it is obviously an old game. To have any settings remembered (including your name and where you are in the game), you MUST run as administrator! I set the properties of my shortcut (the one I made that bypasses their shell) to "Run as Administrator". If you do that, it's fine.

I've only had one other game (in over 2 years of working with Vista) have this requirement and it also was old - Solitaire Master 2. I guess that's how I figured out my problem so easily - I'd seen it before!

For everyone who is purchasing games from BFG please be aware that BFG has a new policy that when you purchase a game, they automatically enrol you in the Game Club and YOU HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CANCELLING IT RIGHT AWAY OR YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL BE CHARGED.

Thank you all for all the great information on this site. The only problem is that I'm spending all my time playing games.

Dawn's link was great! Some of the Big Fish links from Merri's link are duplicates and some of the games mentioned have been changed. Several point to the same link that Dawn had. There were also a few freebies that I had found from here and one or two that were not my "cup of tea".

All in all, though, it was a very busy and productive evening. I ended up with 6 free Big Fish games out of this and helped my friend get them, too. All installed fine.

I'm still in "clean up" mode - fixing shortcuts, moving shortcuts, documenting in my personal game install log and documenting in my list of games.

I don't mind - it's worth the little extra work now for the fun last night!

Thanks Dawn & Merri!!!!!!
