Along with NoScript, AdBlock+, and TACO, I use a FF add-on called -Link Extend- that uses all of these: WOT, Site Advisor, Browser Defender, Web Security, Norton plus more to determine if a link is safe (lots and lots statistics available on any site with one click). I recommend it.

I'm also happy with the features on my AVG 9.0 Security Suite that include a link scanner and resident shield. I do pay for that one and have no regrets since the 9.0 came out.

I use SiteAdvisor, but I tend to ignore its yellow warning, just because half the time it's for some random reason such as yellow links and software that I don't intend on downloading. Is WOT any better?

Yes amigo. Firefox + Noscript + Adblock Plus + WOT is the way to go.
I personally found Wot to be a better one than Mcafee Site advisor. Google a bit, people too find Wot to be better than Mcafee SA.

Another popular extension i can recommend is 'Flagfox'. What it does is to add a little flag next to the address bar, showing the country where the server of the website you are browsing is located {Note: The server may be located in a country different from the website author's actual country}. Though not exactly a security add-on, i use it as one. Rule of thumb: "Think thrice before downloading anything from a site located in Russia or China". Do not mean to be disparaging, but stats show the proportion of malware sites is highest in those countries.

The point about 'free screensavers' was an example, i dont go about downloading any. In four years, i have not used any screensaver other than '3D Pipes'! Thats boring, but i find it the best! :-)

Hi. Thats a very extensive list. Good work. I just wish to add one point.

If you use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, then you need not go to the wot website every time to check a site. WOT comes as an add-on extension for Firefox. Once you have installed it, it works on all sites you click and even on Google/Yahoo and other searches. Type in a Google search term, and all the result entries will have a small pretty ring next to them - 'Green' for a ok site, 'Red' for a known malware site, 'Yellow' for possible malware site and a '?' for site whose status is still not labelled by WOT. And in case you type in a bad website address or click a bad link directly, the WOT warning page opens up before the site gets loaded.

WOT is really a eyeopener. After installing WOT, do a Google search for the term "Free screensavers"... EIGHT of the top ten google search results are sites marked as Red!!
