I thought I'd check in on this post I created and saw the English lesson by aRenegade.

I agree with the comments, I too hate when people state "Personally..." when they are speaking from the first person.

However, if you're critising (note the English spelling) my English, perhaps is best to focus on how others write too...and you would be here for a very long time. I'm not an editor, I'm a fan of all things Internet related so even though your suggestions are warranted on this occassion they are not needed. Thanks

Hello gdawe5,

Any writer worth their weight in salt understands the value of "a second pair of eyes". Therefore, I should not have to worry about you taking things the wrong way. Right? :)

My practical understanding leans towards editing and documentation validation. Since you've asked for feedback from this community here are a couple of freebies as my contribution.

From the article you pointed out, the sentence “One constant problem I've found is there is some difficultly in setting a desktop wallpaper to a picture.” The word “difficultly” is wrong. It should be “difficulty”. You can check out the pronunciation via these links.

Difficultly - http://www.thefreedictionary.com/difficultly
Difficulty - http://www.thefreedictionary.com/difficulty

Suggestion, you do not need to write the “I’ve found” because at this point you have already established yourself to the reader as the evaluator. Consider; “A problem is difficulty setting a wallpaper to a picture.” The idea here is to be brief, and mindful of contractions and passive sentences, a big no-no in Tech Writing. The concept that "less is more" may have started in architecture, but could not be more appropriate in our writing.

Overall, I thought your article is on the right track, its good stuff, so just keep at it.

By the way, should you find yourself in need of an editor my rates are very competitive, and I give generous discounts to members of this forum. For Real! ;)

Hi gdawe5, thanks for reviving the wallpaper thread, reminded me of some really good sites.
as far as tutorials for wallpaper/themes if that's what you're wanting to do, in xp/vista wallpapers are pretty much the same :- right click-set as desktop but watch the resolution.
Themes usually come with an installation program that tells the user what to do ( my windoze vista hp setup is looking like Macos 10 at the moment).
I must admit that I had to work out a lot of the settings by myself so a bit of help would have been gratefully received
You could have a look here WinCustomize: Your home for Vista themes and XP themes , skins ... which is where I got several themes and my 'apple' dock
anyway best of luck, anything that makes computers easier is always a good thing..

Hi gdawe5, what are you looking for, making a guide for others on a web site or something like that? Are you talking about only wallpapers or about desktop themes?
If you are talking about Vista, that's out of my league. Maybe I can help a little if I had more information. 2sweetcamom
