The link goodgotd posted is dead so I've posted another one HERE, at least I assume it's the correct game. hopefully Goodgotd will confirn whether or not it is. :)

nope it's not. It's more like a music creator. Still, I've added the thread to the free game project. I can't exactly remember when it was posted so will just post it with the present week number. I only came across it becasue i've been trying to update the synopsis. It's slow work, but I'm determined to do at least several pages every week till I've caught up. I've compltered weeks 100 to 101 so far, but haven't actually posted the links in the synopsis yet. I find it quicker if I get around 30 or so links before opening up the synopsis and posting them.

Ha. Newcomers all.... <grin>

It's not readily available any more, but there was a DOS game called Graviton- possibly predating (IIRC- it's been a while- gotta dig out my copy and look at the dates) the later ports that was supposed to be a shareware game, but never got past the playable free version that I found.

There is a game now called Graviton, but the gameplay is not the same- shooting missiles at other planets rather than flying a ship in, taking out forts and gathering fuel while fighting gravity and inertia.

And the ancestor of them all- the 1982 Atari arcade game Gravitar which is another one of my favorite games in the MAME set. The wiki credits it with inspiring Thrust, Oids and Gravity Force. but it's soooo much better in vector-type graphics.

Mag-Max is another favorite, silly as it is, and so is Time Pilot '84.

Tempest is really pushing me to build a spinner, the mouse just ain't the same. But it does work well enough for the easier levels.

It seems the developer took the game offline for a while, but by request has put the game back up, but with a warning.

Apparently it was removed due to some AV scanners giving positives. The developer swears that it was clean.

Thanks to you both for the contributions you make here, game posting and list maintenance. Pain medicine is counterproductive when it doesn't work, and makes all the difference in the world when it does. I live it also. Sorry you guys have it severely. :( But I'm smilin' because you're here and share happiness through your labors. Thanks. :)

I'm visiting the doctor today because it looks like I'm developing an allergy to the patches I use at the moment. The patches are 7 day ones. The last few weeks have seen an increase in adverse reactions. My left arm has swelled around where the patch was (I've moved it). At the moment it's only skin problems, but I'm worried it could develop into a full blown allergy; which for me would be disastrous as no thing but opoids seem to touch the pain; (apart from distraction therapy such as playing a good game, lol)

I hope things settle for you soon. It's not pleasant having to suffer continual pain is it. :(

With regards to the forum posts being changed; I've noticed a lot of activity with regards to moderating. Moving and deleting of posts, threads being un-stickied etc.

Thanks again for all your help; it's really very much appreciated. As mentioned elsewhere in these forums; if you hadn't created the alphabetic list with links I'm sure a lot of the games would have been very hard to find, especially those that weren’t mentioned in the title.

Hi Whabbit,
My searches revealed several posts where you mentioned Gravitron and where you mentioned buying Gravitron 2, but none of the posts that I found have a link to get the game so that's why I never added it to the synopsis before.
I use a full-screen editor for my original files and then copy/paste the updates from there, so your changes would have been wiped if you hadn't mentioned it. Thanks!
I've already gone through the entire forum, but there is one big problem. An overzealous moderator changed the titles of several of the older threads since I started looking for the older game posts. As a result I didn't get a warning when I bookmarked the same post twice and I've ended up with a load of double links to sort out *grrr*.
My current pain meds aren't cutting it so my mood goes downhill easily and I can't work on it for long without getting too annoyed, but it'll get done.

Regards,
Lan

Hi Lan, no I couldn't find it myself either, but I definitely remember posting about it because the freeware version of the game persuaded me to buy the commercial version. (Two weeks later I ended up buying Gravitron 2 again because it was being sold as part of a Deal via Steam. I think it was posted during the Christmas period when I posted masses of games, so it could easily have been fogotten. I've already updated the lists with both of the above versions.

Have you completed a full scan of the games forums yet? or are some posts still to be sorted? I was just asking as I could help out a little if you want. :)

regards

Hi Whabbit,
Do you have a link for the original post?
You've mentioned before that Gravitron had been posted and I remember searching for it then. I just searched again (with gotd's search box, google sitesearch, live search and yahoo sitesearch), but I can't find it :-(
This new post will definitely go into the synopsis with the next update (probably later today). Thanks!

Regards,
Lan

Gravitron has already been posted previously as part of the free games project, but I couldn't find it in the synopsis nor the games forum, so thought I'd repost it. It's a simple retro space shooter, with neon like line drawings. It's vaguely similar in game mechanics to that game we were given early in January, called Vega, where you had to control a moon lander using rocket jets. Gravitron has a similar control, though instead of picking up cargo and dropping it off, you are shooting gun emplacements, and picking up fuel reserves etc. The game does require some skill at maneuvering the Gravitron space ship because you have to keep your thrusters firing regularily to maintain heigh above the planets surface; taht in combination with manouvering and shooting gets quite complicated unless you are very adept at using keyboard controls - it's a pity there was no joystick control because that would have made flying the craft much easier (imo).

There's a commercial version called Gravitron 2 which takes the concept a little further, with some improvements to the graphic.

According to the blurb, Gravitron is a vector shooter inspired by Thrust Extreme

You can download the free version of Gravitron via the following link:

http://xout.blackened-interactive.com/Gravitron/Gravitron.html

please read the developers info regqrding possible problems with the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here’s a different version that hasn’t been posted before called Gravitron X:

Gravitron X (34.8Mb)

This game is from the same developer that created a game I posted over the weekend called Invasion. This one is a flight simulation game. You must complete over 30 missions using your space ship. Gather scientists, destroy enemies and be careful because they fight back.
