I agree with hotdoge. I'd run System File Checker - SFC - before doing a repair install. If it really is a file system problem, it won't hurt to run SFC before you have to go to the trouble of a repair install. It's quick and it rarely, if ever, hurts anything in XP.

Lee is probably right because no one else is reporting this problem. Let us know if a repair does the trick. :) Otherwise it may mean a full blown reinstall of windows.

I do a full install at least 2 or 3 times a year. It's always refreshingly fast after I've done a new install. Okay, you lose a lot of your giveaways, but to be honest, if you really want any of the giveaways you can always hope that they come around again, or better still buy the software. Though not all software is lost. I've found some applications and most of the games are free standing, which means theres no registration details in the registry. (I think they are usually written into one of the dlls found in the installed applications folder when you activate the application or game) - just some friendly suggestions. :)

Obviously it's your system files that are at fault, do a repair install.

Hi. About half the time I DL something from here I get a weird error that I need win NT.

Today, after almost 3 hours of DL'ing Advanced System Protector, which I really need and want. Again I got that error. But this time I got the proof that maby the installer your using had a bug in it. I took screen shots.

The error says "The program requires Windows NT version 5.0.2195 or later"

But I am using "Version 5.1 (Build 2600 xpsp_gdr.090206-1234: Service Pack 3)"

It seems to me version 5.1 IS higher the version 5.0, am I wrong?????????

The various software's free versions allways run. This is what leads me to believe that it is the installer program you guys are using.

Any help please :)

Ken
