Thanks for these rO!
I'm in puzzle mode this week and I feel spoiled rotten ;-)

@ Victorianne
No problem with Gene Therapy here.
The most likely explanation is that your download was damaged or interrupted. Clearing your cache and getting a new downlad will normally fix that. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Lan

Wow! Let me encourage you not to give up on that, Wrabbit... a great idea for a game. I've played games where maybe levels or sections were "cells taking over other cells" or the like, and those were always my favorite levels of those games. A whole game with different types of these scenarios would be a big accomplishment and a great seller! It's frustrating when you lose a lot of work like that, but it seems when you have to redo things, it always comes back to you and in an even greater way. So here's a thumbs-up from midori for encouragement to not let it slide. 8&;-)

I nearly did virology at university, but had to wait for a further year because they were only taking 4 or 5 students each year. I decided to opt for a biological and biochemical sciences degree (which I changed part way through to ecology . (weird combo, lol)

As for todays games, thanks rO. I'm intrigued. There's a site I came across several weeks ago that was asking for ideas for games. The developers were basically saying if you came up with a good idea they could make it reality. I thought a biological story line, inside the body, 'fantastic voyage' type game would be great. Body cells being attacked by virii and bacteria causing havock was one part of the idea i'd come up with. I was going to base the idea partly on the fantastic voyage film with some of my own ideas trown in. I never finished writing the games story board though as I had a computer crash and lost the documents and all my favorites (and I couldn't remember the name of the web site) to a windows reinstall. (I'd only just bought acronis as well, but hadn't got arond to running it).

Thanks for these rO, the first game definitely sounds interesting enough. I may check out the second one simply because DNA was always a topic that intrigued me in school. I don't know if I've told yet or not, but thanks for all the games you've provided and work you've put in for this project. You're doing an excellent job and I know rabbit and I both really appreciate it.

Have a great weekend!

Here are two puzzle games from Cornell University. They both involve diseases and viruses so they are very infectious, lol.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Symptom

This is a unique level based puzzle game where you get to play as a deadly virus. In each level your objective is to infect a certain amount of cells and reach the end.

Symptom is a fast-paced action/puzzle game in which you control a virus fighting to take over a human host. You progress through the game by infecting and destroying cells of various colors. You can only attack a cell that you are the same color as and you become the color of the cell's nucleus. Throughout your journey you must avoid White Blood Cells. While they are slow, watch out when they begin to swarm.

Controls:
Mouse - Aim cursor/virus
W - Move towards cursor
S - Move away from cursor
A - Strafe left
D - Strafe right
Space - Launch (after infecting cell)
Esc - Pause game

Download (12.7MB):
http://symptom.freehostia.com/download.php

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Gene Therapy

This picture: [click] just about sums up the entire game. You have pieces of dna that you are trying to connect. Connecting 5 or more pairs in a chain clears the chain. The pieces you get are random so you might get unlucky and not get the pieces that you need. This game also has a short story mode where you are trying to save animals from a deadly disease (is it the same deadly virus from Symptom?).

In Gene Therapy the player takes on the role of top Critter Geneticist Dr. Vergil Hermaneutix as he tries to save his adorable friends from a mysterious disease. Simplicity rules as only simple clicks and drags of the mouse will quickly allow the player to create newly-formed DNA chains in Dr. Hermaneutix's revolutionary GH-RS system.

Beware, each critter saved leads the way to new levels with even more trouble ahead. And could it be that the lovely Nurse Jennifer Jules Beth is getting to the bottom of this disease in her confrontation with Critter Labs consultant, and buxom beauty, Dr. Morgan Catastrophe?

And, for those finished with the challenges of Story Mode, or are simply less story inclined, Challenge Mode offers all the same enjoyment of Gene Therapy but with even longer excitment: see how high you can score!

Download (28.1MB):
