So I can't use my USB card reader. Also I now have a G drive that shows as a CD drive, and I really only have a D: and E: CD drive. I can't find returnil listed in my task manager or start menu, but (perhaps) I might have installed it when offered and later deleted it. Can't remember. Posted 1 day ago # # copmom Member Well, just found out one part of my problem. Kept showing a G: drive as a CD drive. Been poking around with it, found it was connected to something called Tune Clone. That created a Virtual CD-RW SCSI CD Rom. Got rid of that program and uninstalled that drive. But.. now I still cannot get my machine to recognize the drive letters for my USB Hub, or card reader.. just shows in remove hardware as Mass Storage Device and under system with yellow question marks. SOOOOOO frustrating! But when I plug my camera in directly to the USB port, that does work. To reset the options in IE because it isn't working - there is an option under: Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced (Tab) -> Reset... I guess she did it a week or two ago. She did say that she found the information on the Firefox support pages. You might try the following link and see if it helps. It is for a problem with the bookmarks, but microsoft sql often connects with other stuff that is running. I'll follow up on it.. I have noticed every now and then when McAfee does a new installation of their firewall, things go bonkers too! What extensions did she change, and yes, the Dell forums might be a good lead too since I do have a Dell. Will update if things improve.. I know I even did system restore to prior date, but that didn't help and I was afraid of losing some of the GOTD things I downloaded! First to check FF's main pages! I've Googled and checked the various tech forums and noticed several people on there had similar problems, but no real answers. One said check the cables from USB to motherboard, etc., but when I plugged my camera directly into the same USB plug that worked fine so it's not the USB plug! Even tried 2 different card readers to no avail. My wife noticed a problem when all of our bookmarks disappeared. She did a little research and discovered that the latest release of FF had a bug that was causing the bookmarks to disappear and other apps to stop functioning. I am not sure where she found her information, but check their main pages for some help. Other avenues would be the tech forums or even a place like the Dell forums. She changed a few file extensions and it works now. I hope it is something as simple as that for you too. Good luck! Posted 1 day ago # Report # copmom Member In firefox under tools it's I.E. view 1.4.1 and no.. haven't tried update on microsoft.com yet, so don't know, will check that out For that matter, my USB 2.0 hub and my USB 2.0 All in 1 card reader stopped working too. I've tried the reader both with and without the hub. It shows on control panel, system, as 4 letter drives with a yellow question mark and says it failed to initialize and might not work properly, code 10 (which means unknown), and yet on "my computer" those drives don't even show up anymore. It DID work before. My machine must have a ghost floating around to sabotage things.
