Will iSpring Pro 4.1 be offered for download again???

The evening (of April 10, 2009) that the iSpring Pro 4.1 Program was featured on Giveaway of the Day, the links regularly used for downloading were not available, so I was unable to download the application. I did notice that GOTD had the next day's Giveaway posted as well (which they had never done before) and that it had the download links for that one already available...even though when clicked on, it said that the Giveaway was not available for download yet. So, I can only deduce that in GOTD adding their new feature (that is, showing the next day's Giveaway along with the current Giveaway) that they somehow got the availability of the download links backward.

Will you (Giveaway of the Day) be offering iSpring Pro 4.1 for download again (with download link(s) available for it, of course) so that we will be able to download it this time?

Thank you.

BuBBy, do you think there is a chance that the downloads missed during the transition period will be repeated in the very near future?

Yes. There is a chance. However while I have very little effect on how big "a chance", I think that the GOTD team can hardly not be aware that a problem on the GOTD side has caused a lot of users to miss out. If I was the developer, I'd want to make sure nobody missed out. I'd hate to disappoint keen users.

And how do you follow Twitter? Well start by visiting http://twitter.com/GiveawayotDay and then sign up and click on the big blue button marked "Follow".

But going back a step - have a look at these

I am another one that experienced a download problem at the GOTD website during the weekend. I kept checking the main GOTD website throughout the day on April 11 and continued up to a little after midnight. The only giveaway that I saw on the main page was a game being given away in the GGOTD section. I am sorry that I missed the 3D Text Commander 2.0 download. It is one of the downloads that I would have liked to have tried.

I have been without a computer for about two months and finally got things working Thursday. I know that my computer was working correctly during the time of the giveaway. I have not noticed it falter a single time on anything else. During the time that 3D Text Commander 2.0 was being given away I used both IE 7 and Foxfire so do not think that I was having browser problems. BuBBy, do you think there is a chance that the downloads missed during the transition period will be repeated in the very near future?

I believe that might be related to GOTD also starting to use twitter to announce giveaways - and using tinyurl for the webpage links (because twitter messages are limited in length?)

Just quietly - I never download from private freeware libraries - like here - I'll go to the official developers website and start my investigation/research from there.

There has been trouble before with McAfee because developers can add their own software to the library here - which is good because it requires little or no effort from the GOTD team to keep it updated - but it's bad because some developers link to crap software (malware, virus, scam, spyware etc) to cause problems for users.

I'd suggest only stick to links from official/trusted developers websites or the "top shelf" freeware/software libraries. Also install WOT http://www.mywot.com/ and use it's feedback as a guide as to the trustworthiness of websites and download portals.

One site I can recommend as worthwhile (I am involved with the site - but I'm not biased) is http://techsupportalert.com and their Forums are another place you can ask for advice or suggestions on software.

Hoppy,yep..you've made a point there.

But remember all programs in the 'freeware section' are hosted on 3rd party sites and have nothing to do with the GOTD's giveaways.
So I 'd suggest some serious googling before using any of them.
Looks as if the freeware section needs some Spring cleaning.

Enjoy your stay in the forums.

i have checked my system and i can account for why i cannot download from your site. i know why my browser was nearly hijacked!! you have a program in your freeware section called windows anti spyware. this program is malicious and should be removed asap. after you download it and run a scan (which takes approx 10sec for deep scan)it activates your browser to a blank webpage and prompts you to download a exe file. this file is the malicious software program known as malware removal bot. its on every hitlist as corrupt, false and dangerous. my security has now auto blocked from your site as a result so thats why i cannot download. i will change my settings but i would be obliged if you could check this out . thanks.

Likewise I've seen no problems - and to date any reports of malware have been false positives (with the obvious exception when the giveaway was an actual keylogger).

You should not be redirected to 'strange' or 'unsafe' sites when downloading - the files are usually located on GOTD servers. As you mentioned, hoppy, if you browser was hijacked with a trojan which you removed - hopefully your future experience with GOTD will be trouble free.

With many thousands of users downloading and installing giveaways in the first few hours of the giveaway being available (and assuming everyone runs some form of antivirus etc) I would see perhaps a hundred virus reports (including one for myself!).

When it is a pocket of 1 or 2 individual users who report a problem - it is more than likely the problem was a pre-existing one on their system.

i started using this site only yesterday and i think you have some major issues to sort out! it would appear impossible to download anything, my browser just stalls and when you hit the click here link you get directed to some obscure, dangerous sites. when i did manage to download a spyware remover it was a trojan that thankfully my security picked up on. my browser also got hijacked and an attempt was made to install an exe file on my pc. i take it the site has been hacked?

@trying_in_vain - yes I must agree - I saw not only your comment but many many others. (Naturally it seems that everyone feels like they are the ones "breaking the news" when in reality it is all anyone is talking about...

I did what I could and notified the GOTD Team - and waited for a response. I am hoping that something might be said at some point in their blog/announcements (maybe).

I guess being easter - some people (like myself) are in a chocolate coma, or involved with other easter celebrations. Need to be a little forgiving that some people might not be 100% on the ball this weekend.

Looking at the timestamps on comments etc - it appears the server clock might be about 4 hours fast (hence the early start and finish of giveaways).

I'm a bit worried though coz it says that tomorrow's giveaway, Desktop Icon Toy, will close in 9hrs 44min. I sure hope the GOTD team can fix things before then *fingers crossed*

I noticed the problem slightly over 3 hours before the end of the Giveaway and actually submitted two comments about it (under this username), but apparently the moderators felt that *neither* comment was helpful. But they can't say they didn't know about the problem. In one of the two comments, I also noted that the supposedly "current" Giveaway was not yet functional, and posted the message and error code that it gave.

Unfortunately, I've never been on the forums before now (just registered minutes ago to post this), so it didn't occur to me to look here last night.

I wanted to say that I noticed a similar problem 1.5 hours before the iSpring promotion ended.

I tried posting a comment on it in the main section, and it seemed to have difficulties being accepted before being displayed a short while then disappearing.

It took some trial and error before I found the forum, even then I did not quite understand the explanation about the lack of a downloading link since I did not know that there is an international site.

I next tried to register for an account so that I could ask questions, and somehow, the account password did not appear in my gmail account until much later, so it was already a moot point.

I am now puzzled by the somewhat arrogant attitude taken by the moderator towards some of the other commentators since some of the problems were due to the malfunction of the website, it seems a bit uncalled for.

I was able to successfully install using Lan's instructions. The GOTD page that comes up says that it's over, not available. However, if you go into your programs and click on the iSpring Pro folder, then iSpring Pro, a pop-up will appear with the button "Launch Powerpoint." Once Poiwerpoint is opened, you should see a new tab above the ribbon, "iSpring Pro." And there you have it.

Thanks Lan :)
