I suspect it's either the RAM being insufficient or the video RAM (, judging from the comments made so far.

I also notice that if I play the game on a "clean slate" (right after I boot up), the "jumping" to the left seems less frequent.

Turning off the high graphics do not seem to help much although, as I had commented in my first post, playing it in windowed mode seems to help.

My computer is a laptop so for sure the graphics card is not for hardcore gaming (that's why I always choose 2D "mindless" shooters ; don't like Forbidden Galaxy 2 since it's in 3D) and don't think the keyboard matters since the "jumping" happens whether you're using the keyboard or the mouse to navigate the craft.

Anyway, it seriously sounds like a insufficient RAM or video RAM problem so I guess I can't really seriously try to finish this game until my next computer purchase!!

Thanks, guys!!

After a night's sleep my laptop no longer tries to access an M: drive when I play Forbidden Galaxy.

At the end of yesterday I suddenly remembered that very briefly, early in the morning, I had used a memory stick which I have set up as M: and it does have a Docs/Today folder on it (bah, the vagaries of memory as one gets older), but for some reason some program (presumably Windows itself) has associated that drive/folder with a newly installed program even though there is absolutely no connection between the two. Exactly the same thing happened a bit later in the day when I installed Forbidden Galaxy 2. This type of behaviour has happened before and I can't figure out why but, fortunately, it only occurs occasionally.

Still have the problem with the ship keeping to the left of the playing area.

Curiosity got the best of me, so I did the same. (thanks, neat game!) I have XP SP2 with 2GB RAM NVidia GeForce 8300 GS (wanna trade, wrabbit?) and had no real problems either. The ship scoots in to certain points on its own, but I feel I have control of it. Have you tried putting it on the lower graphics output in options? I also didn't get that access message that Spodo got.

I've not played the game for ages, so reinstalled it and so far after playing for about half an hour get no problems whatsoever. I'm using XP SP3 with 4GB RAM and a dual core cpu, plus this computer has two NVidia 8600 GS graphics cards set up in SLI (whether having two reasonable graphic cards help I'm unsure as it seems more like a control problem).Maybe try updating your controllers drivers and see if that helps.

What keyboard are you using? I'm using a Microsoft wireless natural multimedia keyboard. I've recently updated most of my computers drivers and everything has been running sweet on all my computers.

regards

Hi to you too.

As a result of your post I have downloaded the game and I have the same problem; in fact I can hardly get the ship away from the left edge for even a second (I'm also using XP with 2GB of RAM). This is a shame because it's the type of mindless blaster that I like.

But also during both starting and exiting the game it keeps trying to access M:\Docs\Today which, of course doesn't exist on my machine, and there doesn't seem to be anything in the .ini file that corresponds to this. Once the game is up and running then everything is ok (until exiting).

Hi everyone

I don't post much but I'm really grateful to all the people who post all the available links to all the games.

I just downloaded Forbidden Galaxy a few days ago and enjoyed the game a lot. However, I notice that the game seem to have a problem which I just want to confirm if anyone else is experiencing or it's my computer.

The problem I'm facing is that the spacecraft seem to randomly "relocate" ("teleport"/"hyper-jump") itself to the extreme left side of the screen, and this cause a lot of problems, esp. when it comes to clearing those "maze-like" obstables.

My computer is running on WinXP with 1Gb of RAM. Not sure how much video RAM I have but I have the same problem whether it's on full-screen or window-mode, though it seems less frequent when running on window-mode.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern on what causes these random "jumps" and it's really frustrating!!

Does anyone else have the same problem, or does anyone know how I can avoid/fix this problem?

Thanks.
