I believe your referring to a poster who has gottem some heat lately, but has always gotten a lot of praise, too. Although I'm not sure, because the one I'm thinking of has been doing reviewing for a while, now. I mention it, because if he's the one you mean, I emailed him with a suggestion that might lead him to consolidate some of his thougths with the byproduct of posting less. In the last couple of days he seems to have posted less, though maybe it was just coincidence. I'm not sure whether he agreed with my opinion or not. But, to his credit, he gave me a fair hearing, as I've always seen him do with other's comments.

I side with Archangel. I think he's been mostly getting a bad rap. Some of the more technically minded have criticized him, but I don't think they understand that his reviews are primarily about usability, not about technical nuts and bolts. I think too, some just want him to speak with their voice, instead of his own. I think they're being too picky. If you go to his site and read his full reviews, assuming that I've got the right person, you can see how much work he puts into it.

For the life of me, I just can't see what's bad about that. I'll still make up my own mind. If he disagrees with me, it ain't gonna ruin my life, so to speak.

The more stimulating conversation the better. For my money, there are enough posters over there that are the logical equivalents of a black hole. Why someone who gives conscientious reveiws should be getting most of the flak is beyond me.

Hello Crusader,

Your comment is refreshing and for a relative newcomer you made an astute observation. Within this grand diversity of people that Archangel refers to, there are nitpickers (which incidentally is a word in the Encarta dictionary); What Archangel viewed as “bad mouthing” I viewed as a constructive criticism. Oh, as writers, how we do want our words to burn into the souls of our readers. Unfortunately, there are people that often think that the more words they write, the greater that burn will be.

Fact is, just the opposite is true, tightly written, colorful, descriptive, and pared-down prose will burn into readers' hearts and minds more quickly than rambling, redundant, and unnecessary text. The shorter your writing, the better chance it has of being read. People enjoy prolific people; saying the same thing with fewer words as opposed to many words brands a person as prolific, not the fact that they know a thousand multi-syllabic words. And finally, it's easier to remember three pithy words than it is 10 that wander about. But that’s just my opinion. ;)

Welcome to the forum The Crusader. One thing to remember is that we are all different. I agree with part of what you just posted in this thread but since we are different I disagree with your statement on the other individual. I'm not for sure 100% who your talking about but I'm pretty sure since you didn't mention a name. You should have though since you started this thread (See there, thats my opinion which is not like yours).

Since you created this thread and voiced your opinion 8 hours ago I'd like to express mine. I don't like reading threads that are deceiving. You named it "Thankfully a peaceful site away from the fray". Then you praise Admins and other Namely people here (and for good reason I might add) and then bad mouth another member just for adding there two cents worth in. My question is to you is,,,,,,,,, What does that have to do with "Thankfully a peaceful site away from the fray" other than to get attention to this thread so others will read your negative comments on the other member?

Of course the above is just my opinion, just like yours but I've always called it as I see it and Sir/Ma'am I feel that your crusade is just against another member. If you will take time and read the forum (you said you read the comments but didn't mention reading here) you'll see that we all get along, try to be helpful even though sometimes we strongly disagree. Even though its not a mission statement in the forum, I feel like all here in the forum are more than just fellow members, were kind of like family.

In ending please stick around and join in. The forum is as you started this thread "Thankfully a peaceful site away from the fray" and I welcome you to become a part of it.

Sincerely,
Archangel

I always enjoy reading Whiterabbit's reviews. I always read comments wherever they appear on the Giveawayoftheday site by characters including BuBBY, Lee, and Fubar. I read mostly enjoy the comments made by a few others as well. Being a faithful reader of a person's comments does not mean that I always agree with what they have to say. What it does mean is that each of the four people named above write meaningful comments. Their comments contain details, usually one or more facts that I did not know before reading their comment, and critical suggestions that add to the value of the particular Giveawayoftheday offer put up on the block that day.

What I do not enjoy reading are the comments made by a single individual that have recently started appearing daily on the front page of the Giveawayoftheday website. He adds a separate post for every small fragmented idea that pops into his head. I have never seen him acknowledge or assimilate any of the helpful suggestions he has been offered in what he calls his "review".

I am so thankful that this website includes this forum as a sub-web.
