spankyjo,

Don't worry the program it not irreplaceable.

Free Alternatives:
FormatFactory + ClipFinder
YouTube Downloader
Zamzar.com
Youtube-downloader.com
Vixy.net
Kissyoutube.com
Keepvid.com

ClipFinder + FormatFactory is my recommendation.

Bringing up the webpage that says "Successfully Activated - What Next" is just a display/advertising message that is automatically displayed when the activation/setup completes. This message is displayed using the default browser.

If you run the protected exe (The orange icon with a white key) - on the very first screen when it loads - cancel the installation and don't install anything. You will get the same message "Program Activated - What Next?". This webpage isn't the "activation".

The "real work" is done before the program/activation code is extracted (while the GOTD dialog is displayed) that checks if the giveaway is current, and tries to connect etc - when this dialog is displayed - This is the moment I am referring to when I say "Activation is occurring" - and it is this connection to GOTD that use Internet Explorer.

To illustrate this fact - go into Internet Explorer - in the file menu - select "Work Offline" - and try to run the setup/activation program (orange icon etc). Now despite having Firefox as your default browser - by changing the "Work Offline" option in Internet Explorer - Activation now fails.

That is what I mean when I say that Activation relies entirely on Internet Explorer.

How come when mine activates it brings up Firefox?

I have IE too, but seldom use it anymore!

What firewall, antivirus/antispyware are you using?

Also can you connect to the GOTD website using Internet Explorer? (The activation software uses IE).

I downloaded this GOTD but when I tried to install it, my firewall would not let me install it. Kept telling me it was a trojan something. Has anyone else had this problem? I would like to have it but, by the time this is answered it will be too late for me. I tried to change the settings in the Firewall and get it to accept it but still would not let me.
