I also had troubles with both Gamehouse and RA! Fixed both of them...I will try to give you the way I managed GH: 1: Use Firefox Add on (DownThemAll): the problem lies in the installer not downloading the entire file (thus corrupt file). 2: Each free game has its own installer, when box comes up do not run click on "dT one click" - oh make sure you have the drive listed as to where you want downThemAll to save files: for me it's F:Gamehouse in this case. - now when dT starts downloading check the size of download ex: downloading xxx of 650.5kb you shouldn't have any problems - BUT - if you do this is what you will get: a size mismatch - in this case just highlight the download (click on it) then click on resume: sometimes you have to do it twice....works everytime.

Hope this helps. By the way if probs. with RA let me know might be able to help their also (requires regedit - root - realarcade rename.
Happy gaming

Hello everyone. I sent another report into Gamehouse and asked her to take a look at our forum here to see if that would help her understand what's wrong. I'll post the solution for you to try here--ahem, if you want to (Disclaimer). I have to confess that it didn't work for me, but, I'd love to know if it works for any of you all. Thanks, Dax
******************
This is caused because the Windows Component that handles the loading of web-objects isn't registered or known to the program. This can cause script errors or blank pages to load when a program tries to load information from the web.

Solution 1: Restoring the Java Loader (for Windows Vista)
1. Click on Start
2. Type CMD into the Search Box located at the bottom of the Start Menu and press the ENTER key.
3. Right-click on CMD from the program list and select "Run As Administrator".
4. A black console window will appear. Please enter regsvr32 jscript.dll and press the ENTER key.
5. You'll see a message that says "RegisterServerDLL jscript.dll has succeeded". Click OK on this message.
6. Restart your computer to finish this process.

Solution 2: Restoring the Java Loader (for Windows 2000/XP)
1. Click on Start
2. Open the Run program
3. In the Run Box, type in regsvr32 jscript.dll and press OK.
4. A message will appear saying "RegisterServerDLL jscript.dll has succeeded". Click OK on this message.
5. Restart your computer to finish this process.

Once you've completed these steps, try loading the program again. The program should now load as intended.

hi, suki...

yesterday, McAfee decided i also had that Trojan...in my Webroot Window Washer program, and former giveaway program "Bulk Image Downloader"...the discovery/added date listed by McAfee for that Trojan is 8/22/2008............so...scans missed it for that long?...or yet more false positives from McAfee?...

in december, McAfee was on a real roll...found Generic.dx Trojan, first discovered/added 3/12/2007, in East-Tec Eraser 2008, Wondershare Democreator, Remote Asset Tracker...after McAfee updated their virus definitions, i was able to restore East-Tec...Wondershare runs, but throws an error on one of the tabs...and Remote Asset Tracker was completely lost............all false positives, apparently...

oh, yeah...McAfee also found a Trojan (don't remember which one, but first discovered/added in 2007) in BurnAware...my (better) Giveaway version was lost for good, but i was able to install the free version...again, after McAfee updated their virus definitions...

i hope after another virus definition update, i'll be able to restore Bulk Image Downloader...that one was a keeper for me...if not, i'll have to see if i have the bucks to buy it...

as for McAfee...i purchased the Agnitum Outpost Security Suite after seeing the posting by Fubar about the sale they recently had...50 bucks for a lifetime license for three PC's...seems i should have installed it quicker............i'll run that with on-demand scans (Spybot, etc., as long as they play nice together)...

SORRY TO HAVE RATTLED ON, EVERYONE...i am a bit perturbed here...probably should have started a "Beware Of McAfee" thread...

suki...they updated again today...maybe you can restore what you lost...i am betting it is another round of false positives...

good luck...

Have you tried this link to get "Polly Pride Pet Detective"?

http://realarcadeextras.com/spacebuddies/

This is the one that worked for me! Make sure you turn off pop-up blocker, I used Firefox, so I had to do it twice, once to allow the pop-up then went back and all was fine!

As of this post the link still works, I watched the video and it took me to Gamehouse sign-in...this was the only way I could do it...they sent the info to my in-box and thank god it was an .exe file!

Suki
P.S. I think PJ Pride-Destination Europe(I think), stunk!

LOL, I just can't win!

This morning McAfee ran its big scan on my computer, I had to get some sleep...%-)

I have Magic Ball 2 and Magic Ball 2 New Worlds installed on this computer, they have been on here for 2 plus years!
I had gone looking in C: this morning about the GameHouse issue and looked in my RA folder...there was a GameHouse folder in that one too, but it only contained the GameHouse logo!

Now McAfee has quarantined two of the files for the Magic Ball's, saying they have a Trojan(generic Artemis), can anyone tell me why this would happen all of a sudden?

Did I open the door and let something in, I can always redownload the games from RA if they have ceased to work...it's just plain weird that McAfee would flag them at this time! I must have left to many fingerprints, lmao...

Thanks, Suki

Thanks guys,
Robert, I never got an email with a code. I get the the checkout review page , click checkout and the next page says "We're sorry, but we could not find the game you're looking for". Suki, I now know that Gamehouse doesn't respond, I'd already called Realarcade and have the newest realarcade installer (which I hate.) I'll try your suggestion to uninstall it and see what happens.

This is just part of the crap I got from RA!

The New RealArcade was recently updated and if you are still using the older release you may experience several problems. The steps below explain how to uninstall the New RealArcade without affecting your games. Once uninstalled visit the Evaluation games site to reinstall RealArcade.
> >
> > Open My Computer
> > Navagate to: C:\Program Files\RealArcade\Installer\uninstall
> > In here you will find scripts for every game you have installed as well as the scripts to uninstall RAC v2
> >
> >
> > First run: fullclientrar.rguninst
> > Second run: fullcatalograr.rguninst
> > Third run: Appresourcerar.rguninst
> > Last run: Realarcade.rguninst
> >
> > Please reply to this email with any further questions or concerns.
> >
> > Thank you,

I wouldn't even bother striking up a conversation with GameHouse, they don't reply...shush it's a secret!

I do have a folder in C: called GameHouse Games, but it's empty, lol!

Hi Suki,
Somehow I don't think that your problem is related to internet or browser settings. I've been wrecking my brain for a while now and the only things that come up are:
a- When you were mailing RA... Was there ever any mention of file extensions, in particular those of the components that are accessed or created when the game launches for the first time?
b- Are your "Program Files", "Documents and Settings"/"Application Data" and "Windows" folders all on the same partition?
c- Do you have the same problem with MostFun games?

One of my puters boasts that it has a setup similar to Dell. I've never played GameHouse or RA games on it, but I'm feeling a tiiiiiiiiiny little itch coming up...

Hi SpodoComodo,
You deserve a cookie with that tea as well ;-)
The thought is a good one, but unfortunately uninstalling 'GameHouse' via the control panel doesn't get rid of the installer. It removes a few of your preferences so it's useful if you want your games to be installed in a different location or if you changed your mind about wanting desktop shortcuts, but other than that... no real fixes.

Hi Violet4714,
Well, you're clearly not clueless! I think you're right about aRenegade finding the solution for DelennDax7 and others with similar problems ;-)

Would you like tea with your rubbish, Spodo? Lol... that quite makes sense! I didn't even think of it as a "program," per se... but there it is in the Control Panel, separate from the games themselves, much like Real Arcade would be.

I don't have a problem with downloads, but there is a program called Gamehouse on my machine which I assume everyone else must have. Either it gets installed with each game (if it doesn't already exist) or I've forgotten that it needed to be downloaded explicitly when I first registered with the site. Could this have become corrupted (as in files getting accidentally deleted) or perhaps it wasn't fully installed to begin with?

It's only a suggestion, but perhaps uninstalling this (followed by automatic/explicit reinstallation) might provide a solution to the errors.

If this is complete rubbish, please ignore.

Hi Dax,
The GameHouse installer comes via a redirected download and immediately connects to the internet and starts downloading another file (the game). A lot of security softs see this behavior as suspicious and windows can block it as well. Have you checked the quarantine section in your security softs? If the installer was automatically removed then you might be able to restore it and set an exception. If it's not there then maybe GameHouse can tell you what the direct download path for the installer is so that you can get it separately without setting off any alarms.

Samm,
In case GameHouse hasn't replied yet: they are the same game. Polly Pride was renamed to PJ Pride when the sequel came out. GameHouse has been a bit sloppy with the name update and their screenshots for PJ Pride still show the old name as well ;-)

Tatonkawoman,
If you know which dll file is missing then you can look for it on http://www.dll-files.com or http://www.afreedll.com but remember to make a system backup or a restore point beforehand if their instructions tell you to change any settings.

Suki,
LOL too many folders is why I started gathering and tagging the shortcuts. I can use the tags to group them by category, vendor, etc and a double click launches the game so there's no need for clutter in the start menu ;-)

Regards,

I have noticed after clicking the Download button this long 'file corrupted' line comes up, but then the download box comes up, and I just go about the download/install process, as usual. I can then either play the game, right away, or just click onto the red X, if I'm not ready to play, yet. I don't have to disable my firewall, or my antivirus in order to download, either. BTW, I am running XP SP3, also. Another btw, here - Robert, that Polly Pride Pet Detective game is interesting, kind of surprisingly. The characters are cartoon-ish, but the hidden object part isn't. That part is some kind of simple, yet others, challenging. I've already played a good portion of it. :D

I can download the free GH games, but they won't install. Every time they say I either have a missing .dll, or the download is corrupt. I noticed that on the ones that say the file is corrupt that they have all said CHESS at the upper left. Is that an acronym, or does it think it's downloading a chess game?

I'm getting really tired of trying to download these games. I'm on dial-up and it takes hours to do the download, then to have it be corrupt? I'm ready to pull out my hair.

I've tried both way....choosing "Run" or "Save". I've tried with a download accelorator and without. Sometimes, it's actually the name of the game instead of that stubb name, but not always. My attempts have yielded a variety of stalling results. Yes, at times, it'll get frozen at the install screen where it says page 1 of 3 and I need to choose a place for the installation. At times, it'll it won't even begin to install and just says "invalid game package". A couple of times with FireFox it has said that it's blocked by my security zone settings or something. So, I've tried turning off everything and allowing everything that you're not supposed to....to no avail. And yes, I renable everything (Anti-Virus, Firewall, SpywareTerminator) and put my security settings back to Medium. Anything else I can try? --Dax

Hi DelennDax7,
From your initial post I thought you meant that the installer froze at the stage where you choose the location that the game is installed to, but you're trying to save without installing... that's not what GameHouse has in mind for these free games. The stubby is only a lead-in for their installer, so there's no point in saving it. You have to click 'run' instead of 'save' to get the full installer which will then download the free game and automatically install it. Once that's done you can copy the final game folder to a backup location for safekeeping if you want. I save most of them on an external disk for when the neighborhood kids come by.

Nearly forgot... Vista users probably have to right-click to run as administrator. My XP even came up with an 'insufficient rights' error at one point *head shaking*
Hope you can get it to work.

Hi Suki,
Nope, I'd never have guessed that you like Mahjong *cough*.
500 games and half of them mahjong? Oye! That's 'worse' than I thought. I always save a copy of the desktop icon to a separate folder so I can quickly see which games I've already bought. I'm just a rookie at 385 with only 34 Mahjong. Do I get bonus points for a freeware folder that includes another 72 Mahjong games and a cd-rom called "Supermarkt MahJong Varia"? My real pet games are point'n'click adventures though.
I bought a quad-core recently. Incredibly fast while it lasted. One of the fans shorted out and set the wiring on fire, so for now I'm back to only 1 gig RAM too :-( I'm kicking myself for keeping part of my document backups on one of the internal disks while I've got a 2 tera network station *yup I is stupid stupid stupid*. Fire extinguisher foam is horrible goo, but the little hard disk circuit boards cleaned up fairly well after five runs in a dishwasher, so I'm carefully hoping *fingers x-ed* that I can salvage some of my data... if I can stop playing games long enough to try it 8-)

Hi Midori,
Nearly didn't recognize you without your hat ;-)

Regards,
Lan *gamergoyle*

When I first learned about GameHouse's give away of the day, I went through a rough patch getting games downloaded. Of course at first I was trying to download 'old' give aways - they said free game, or something to that effect. Anyway, I have been downloading, installing, and playing the different giveaways for a while now, and with no problem. Most times I don't even have to login, first. To get started, in the first place, I may have had to download a manager of some sort, but don't recall right now. I do hope you all can get the problems sorted out, because they are giving away some nice games. Well, actually they aren't *giving* them away - you get to play all you want to for free, with very short ads.

Suki, the games will start. For some reason it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to start.

Meanwhile the computer is locked up.Grrrrrrrr

It locks up around 5 minutes when you exit a game.

I thought it was my dial up or computer doing it being ad supported.

Ay, a gamer after me own heart. I think I have just about every worthwhile mahjongg game out there also. Kyodai was the first one I bought online, then there was no stopping me. I have all of my RA games safe in a folder also, and there's no way I'm gonna upgrade because some have lost access to their games and have had all sorts of trouble. So I just don't purchase from there anymore. And with all these freebies these folks come up with, who needs to! Lol. Thanks, folks! I also really enjoy the RPG games (got hooked on the Myst series years ago for starters), so've been happy to see the likes of Nancy Drew, et al.
Cheers to Mahjongg!

g@rgoyle

The 2 mahjong ones I bought from them were back in 2005..."Mahjong Adventures and "Mahjong Garden To Go".....I own "Mahjong Medley" from RA...

I think Mahjong makes up almost half of my games...never bothered to count how many games I have, lol!

I know it takes forever for RA to bring up all my games when I use the RealArcade icon, I also have them stored in a separate folder from when I was dealing with tech support...I know there at least 100..., then add 200 plus from Big Fish...then add all the others, I think I'm nearing around 500, lmao! I have some on cd's also...I just took "At Worlds End"(Pirates of the Caribbean)off my C: drive because it was a 1,000 MB game...will eventually move it to my F: drive when I get some more RAM...I want to up it to 4 gigs, max that windows 32 bit can actually read...I only have 1 gig now!

Can't tell I like Mahjong can you.......

Take care, Suki

Yep, my Java is enabled all around. But, I don't have the installer....I'm assuming that will get installed with the first free game I can successfully download? When I download one of the other demo games, it's just a standalone game. When I try to download freebie, the name is always the same - stubbygh_en.exe.
