I haven't been very thrilled about the games alawar gives away in their gamebox. :(

I don't think I have got any of the freebies offered on giveawayoftheday.com by alawar ever. I'm pretty sure http://www.Realarcade.com has a lot of their games/a lot of games on their site and you'll probably end up paying less in the long wrong depending if you are a gamepass member or you get their games from another gaming site such as Bigfish.

I have Stand O' Food and it gets boring after a while. I'm not sure if I have any other games by Alawar that are not on sites like http://www.mostfun.com (they actually have Stand O' Food 2) and it can be downloaded and played for free.

These are the games I have gotten from Alawar since March/2008

Snowy: Treasure Hunter
Snowy: Space Trip
Snowy: Fish Frenzy
Sky Bubbles Deluxe
Crusaders of Space
Ice Puzzle Deluxe
Carl the Caveman
Treasure Mole: Winter Vacations.....this is the one currently available!

I don't believe I have missed any of them...I just think Alawar puts them up when they remember to do so, lol!
I have had no problems on 2 computers running XP with the games unlocking.
I check the box almost every day....god forbid I miss another Snowy game, lmao!

@WhiteRabbit

Heck I can't blame Alawar or any company that donates to GAOTD and then seems to be hesitant... those of us who respect the offers and follow the 3 golden rules of GAOTD understand the effort these companies make when they offer a mass key like so... even if a program is 10$ nothing gets to the actual game creator at this point... (Contracts etc...) There are some amazing programs we get to try here and heck in 1 week time with some of theses programs I've saved 100's of hours of home tasks that I can spend elsewhere... So if my system crashes and I had no HD backups my own fault and I should respect the deal... if it's something I really needed and it's worth my time for sure it's a direct sale... and I hope that companies such as alawar understand that it's the little things that count.. doesn't even have to be something recent if you've never tried it... it could be a top hit.. look at Q-Bert and PacMan they fall under the same category as Elvis ;-)....

Half the time the free game from Alawar won't unlock. I've sent them an email about it but never got a response! Even after I download, install and unlock, it says it's the 60 minute trial.

Not every game - but at least half of them do this!

Hey, White Rabbit, thanks for the info. That's too bad that Alaware isn't working with you any more. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet if I want one of their games (and I will, for one or two of them).

Thanks for the links, too. I'll check them out.

And most of all, thanks for this great service!

I wrote to Alawar last year shortly after their last lot of game giveaways, partly to say thanks for all the free games, but also for other reasons. I was told that they had really enjoyed working with the giveaway team, but that it would be a long time before they coinsidered giving away more free games. They didn't outright say no, but I got the impression that it wasn't going to be for a long time to come. The one consolation is that Alawar do give away one game a month provided you have their game box installed. There's a post in the forums that usually keeps up to date with whatever game is available at the moment. Presently it's either one of the Snowy puzzles or Ice Puzzle Deluxe. I don't have access to my Alawar Gamebox on this computer so can't check.

Then there's another alternative. Go to Gamehouse. They give a free arcade game away every day; thought there is a downside to them in that they are add supported; also they do start to repeat after several weeks. Still, that's nearly 50 arcade games and includes some only just released:

http://www.gamehouse.com/

Todays game (31st January)is called Delicious 2. You do have to create a free account to be able to download the games, and the adverts last for around 20 seconds at a time. Each game seems to have them popping up at different times. Some seem to pop up every few levels and others only seem to pop up a couple of times every so often, though at least once each time you start playing the games.

regards

I lost several of the games that I really enjoyed when my last hard drive went south. Several of those games were from Alawar. I've been hoping to see them come up again on GGAOTD but I haven't seen any Alawar games for a long time. Did they stop offering them to GGAOTD? Just curious.

Thanks for your good work!
