This page explains it better. Typical humans....mining and not checking into the consequences of their actions.
http://gdiac.cis.cornell.edu/Projects/2007sp/CurseoftheWendigo/

"Wendy the Wendigo used to eat people, but has since discovered Mt. Potentia and its seemingly endless supply of Sanguinite, a delicious and nutritious alternative to human flesh. Not having to hunt all day gave her the time to do what she always wanted to do – raise a family! Wendy and her large litter of cubs have been living on Sanguinite in the caves of Mt. Potentia for about a century or so, so the cubs have never learned how to hunt. One night, human settlers with bizarre Sanguinite-powered mining technology arrive and drain Mt. Potentia of all its remaining Sanguinite. The wendigo babies, hungry and totally ignorant of the outside world, follow the Sanguinite scent trail into the city.

Wendy wakes up to find all her food, and more importantly, her children, missing. She senses that her babies are in the city, and rushes to help them. Now, with no Sanguinite, the Wendigos must resort to their alternate food source – human flesh. Being the only one who knows how to hunt, Wendy must find her babies scattered throughout the city and feed them freshly killed human before they all starve to death."

Thanks, rO... sounded kinda gruesome until you described the perspective of it better... and I know how hectic university life can be (I have a daughter who's a junior this year who usually has a whirlwind of assignments and projects) so thanks for taking the time to contribute!

I have decided to post one of the best platform games from Cornell University called Curse of the Wendigo. Also, I apologize for not replying to my topics for the past few weeks. I was busy with University assignments and couldn't find the time to check.

This is mostly vertical sidescrolling platformer starring a mother Wendigo. Babies are scattered throughout levels, and the main challenge is to discover and feed the babies before the babies starve, by jumping on and throwing enemies to the tots. Picking up and throwing enemies/items is also the game’s primary mechanic. The game have a slightly steampunk theme, and is mostly offbeat and funny rather than serious.
