On the acid-play link, the only download link was invalid. There is a link on the creators page, but it's one of those ad-ridden speed-limited ones. Dialup or broadband, this one'll take a while to download. Did I miss the correct link on acid's page?

Hi Wizzard; maybe you should make a suggestion to the game giveaway team via the thread on the front page. Perhaps PM the admins giving the name and contact number/email of the developer?

regards

Yes, the developers did a great job at producing this game. It looks like the second game has even better graphics and improved gameplay. I ask anyone that really likes this game, to buy The Spirit Engine 2 to support the developers...especially since this one is freeware. Perhaps GOTD could be talked into offering the second game?

I'm glad you two are interested in this one enough and that Rabbit likes it so much.

Regards,
AH

I've just been playing this for several minutes and must say it's really good. It's almost like a cross between an rpg and a good run and jump platform game. If you like games like Turtix and Azangara, this would be like a breath of fresh air on the usual platform genre. Very nice find Wizzard. :)

(I also followed through with more videos via the ones you posted and am impressed with the level designs. Very cartoon animeish (new word to add to the english language, lol) in style. Gorgeous graphics......

Downloading now. Thanks Wizzard. I'm looking forwards to trying this one out. Now, if I could just tear myself away from Obuilis and Crayon Physics Deluxe and Olegs beta Magic Farm Ultimate, I'll have some time to check it out:) I really love RPG's (after a long spellaway from them, Elder Scrolls Oblivion and then a retro purchase of Morrowind brough me back to the genre after not playing it for a few years - since Wizardry 8). I got too far into first person shooters for a long time thanks to the Battlefield series and then the Call of Duty series. :)

Looking forwards to seeing what you have in store for us tomorrow and Thursday. (I've not PMed reverseOrder and The Webmaster abut the new arrangements yet - ie that you and me wont be posting on Mondays and Fridays)

regards

Today’s game is called The Spirit Engine. The Spirit Engine is a team based RPG. Once you get done installing the game and launch it, the first thing you must do is decide what quality of sound and video you wish. After that, you start a new game and must choose 3 characters for your team. The three basic characters are mage, rifleman, and priest.

Once you start on your journey with your three characters, you must sit through some long-winded dialogue. Your three characters are “plucked” from their surroundings via a magical beam. Not knowing one another, they set off towards the nearest town to see what has happened. Along the way, you will run into your first combat. Combat, for the most part is done for you. The two parties will exchange blows until you have defeated them. Once you have defeated them, you click in the menu at the top and click skills. From this menu, you can level up each of your characters.

Navigation is entirely done with the mouse. If you click and hold on one extreme side of the window, your characters will walk that way. Combat later becomes more intricate when you have learned new skills. You have the ability of changing what kind of attack and defense you use in order to defeat the enemy. Once you have reached the town, you have the option of purchasing supplies and saving your game. You can hit the escape button to take you back to the main menu in order to close the program.

This is a cute little game that seems like it could be quite strategic and fun after allowing your characters to acquire new skills. I encourage everyone to give it a strong chance. At 38.6mb’s, it’s worth a shot. Overall, I give the game an 8/10 so far. If you like the game, there is a Spirit Engine 2 that can be purchased from the authors site at http://www.thespiritengine.com
