Final post:

AlexSJ, I thank you for your advice. Michael was very helpful. He had me uninstall & reinstall using the GOTD registration key and a fresh copy from their download site. This cleared up the problem for me. I don't know what happened. Maybe there was a corrupted file in my download that fouled things up. In any event, it has been solved. Thanks for your help! Peace.

Update:

Power DVD is a part of the Dell Media Experience. If you uninstall it, you cannot watch a movie using the Dell Media center. In fact, the option for a DVD isn't even there. Just Music, Pictures, Videos (not DVD), and Extras (games & such). Since I never used it, I will leave it uninstalled. No change in the burning performance. I have noticed a heavy lag and some freezing of Firefox on certain websites while using Returnil (turned ON), especially sites that use a lot of memory. Myspace and any video site are prime examples. I will keep everyone posted. Peace.

Dear Alex,
Thanks for the address. I am going to send them an e-mail right after I finish here. As for CD/DVD emulator software, I am not sure. I installed a lot of stuff that came with my computer (from Dell) but I left off the programs I knew I had problems with. About the only program I can think of that may fit this description is PowerDVD from Cyberlink. I guess it is used to play the DVDs on the computer. I assume it was on the computer before I had to reformat, even though I have never used it. I prefer to watch my DVDs on a larger screen.

On further inspection I notice that the Dell Media Experience is also made by Cyberlink. I think I will uninstall the PowerDVD first and see if that solves my problems. Thanks for the leads. Peace.

Hello Frique:
try sending an e-mail to support@returnilsoftware.com and addressing it to Michael.
Perhaps you want to mention that you read in the forum that they are pretty helpful and you are hoping they have some suggestion for your case.

By the way, are you running a CD or DVD emulator software on your PC? The one time I had big problems with the software was when I tried to hook up my Mojopac at the same time. That was kind of like double virtuality or whatever and the Mojopac got screwed.

Pura vida, AlexSJ

Thanks everyone. I will try scanning for adware, but I am pretty sure that is not the problem since we just reformatted a day or two before I installed Returnil. I haven't even had a chance to get adware since I have spent most of my time reinstalling my purchased programs. I lost all the good ones from GOTD. I would like to contact Michael at Returnil though. How do you suggest I contact him Alex? Is there a link on the GOTD site, such as in a forum or on the comment boards? Thanks for your help! Peace.

Hello Frique
Whilst I don't burn a lot of CD, I did burn one yesterday and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. I'm running Returnil on XP and used Starburn for that.
I suggest you contact Michael at Returnil. I once had a problem with my mojopac and Returnil and they were very forthcoming.
pura vida, AlexSJ

I downloaded Returnil just days after reformatting my hard drive. I figured that it would be a good product to use since I am tired of reformatting my computer every year. I had no problems installing it and the system seems pretty stable. I have had it lock up once, but I can chalk that up to Microsoft. A problem that I have discovered though is with my cd/dvd copying and burning software. I have Nero 6 (don't laugh, it works), Imgburn, and DVDFab 5.2. All are legit copies, so there is no question of bugs in the cracking. I have tried to burn several CDs and a couple of DVDs since I installed Returnil. I have had to slow the burn speed down to the lowest level or make a bunch of coasters. I have discovered though that if I exit completely out of returnil that my cd/dvd programs work ok. I can only assume that this problem arises from returnil. I have not tried to use these programs with the returnil program "on" just with it running in the background (in the "off" position.) I have a 2.53 Ghz cpu with 1 GB ram and over 100 GB free space on the hard drive.

My question is, has anyone else had a similar problem with Returnil?
