Well I think that covers it - and taking this any further is going against our rules.

Forum Rules

Do not ask how to install/transfer/copy/backup giveaway software after the giveaway has finished. The only supported way to install giveaway software is by running the supplied setup and/or activate programs prior to the giveaway period expiring. Giveaways may be rerun periodically. If you "want it now" and like the software enough, you should show your support to the developers and purchase or register the software.

No that isn't true. If you reinstall windows or format the drive windows is on - you will lose possibly all of the activations.

Installing to a USB drive or an external hard drive will still be dependent on the original windows installation.

The solution is to wait for the giveaway to be offered again - or an alternative product.

If you don't want to wait - you can always support the developer and register for a permanent license (that will allow updates and reinstalls) - or go back to the original giveaway and look through the comments for freeware or open-source programs.

Remember the intention of GOTD isn't to provide an alternative to purchasing licensed software. The giveaways aren't an equivalent to the fully registered versions - and most deliberately do not permit upgrades or reinstalls (outside the giveaway 24 hours).

that happened to me a few weeks ago, unfortunately it's gone. But what you can do and I've been doing ever since finding out is download all the software to an external hard drive, I use an 8 GB USB flash drive. Download it there, install it there and activate from the drive as well. As long as you don't reformat the extra drive you'll always have the software.
