I've just received an email from Wolfire games telling me that the promotion has ended as of now. the 3rd December 09 (the Email arrived just after midnight), so it may be time zone dependent, which menas if you live in america, you may have a few hours left before the offer becomes inactive. The developer does give all those who got the game while it was under promotion a link that you can give to up to two friends. Once the link has been used twice it becomes inactive. There was no time linit given on the downloads though.

I love games like Venture Arctic, and had played a trial version of it previously. I was thrilled when I found it for free. I could hardly wait to post it here. I was surprised noone had beat me to it. It normally seems that when I find a game for free, I search and find that someone else already found and posted it.

By the way, on the Wolfire Games site, the makers of Lugaru, there are also a few games that they always give away for free.

Oddly, I've just re-established contact with an old school friend whom I've not spoken to since leaving school in 1972 (via friends reunited) I was only ever involved in one fight at school and it just so happens that the guy I've just re-established contact with picked the fight with me in my first year at secondary school (when I was 11 in 1967).

So far I'm enjoying Lugaro a lot. It's pretty fun if you just like to beat people up every once in a while. As Knot Me said, it looks like they encourage mods, and you can find a link to download some in the site, which I plan on trying if I can finish the game(some of the levels are kind of hard). I haven't gotten to Venture Arctic yet, but that's next on the list.

P.S. Midori, it seems like we've already had 12 days of Christmas and they're still coming. It's been a great holiday season for my free games collection! And I like the Santa hat too :)

I was just going to remark on the same, Whiterabbit... how many really nice free games are around, AND how many really nice people are sharing their really nice finds here! Seems like there ARE 12 days of Christmas this year! *o00|:-D (does it look like I have a Santa hat on?...sort of?...lol)

My daughter was over the moon with both of these games. Lugaru seems a little dated in the graphics department, but that is only a minor negative. The game is excellent. As for venture arctic. I wish I'd taken up the offer of a half priced Venture Africa at the same time as the game is excellent. Once you've completed the download you can't go back and take advantage of the half price offer a sit can detect that you've already taken advantage of the free offer and wont let you go through the offer again. So now i'll have to pay full price for Venture Africa :(

I bought 999 copies of Venture Arctic. I wonder if I have 999 * 5 activations (I only received one serial...). Am I crazy?
For Lugaru, I found that the serial for the Linux version is different from the Windows and Mac version. Anyone noticed that?

After all the time spent lurking here and benefitting from the free games posted here, I finally found something to give back with.

Albesir, I'm not sure how old Lugaru is, I just happened across it in a search. It's really not my kind of game, but figured there would be some here who would have interest in it though. Apparently there are quite a few player created mods and add-ons posted in their forums. They seem to encourage the use of them.

I wonder, was Lugaro recently released? I seem to remember a beta version of it being on a freeware games site one time, six months or so back, but I just checked it and it isn't there anymore. I don't have a great memory, so I could be wrong but it seems like I saw it there for a while.

Anyway, both games look pretty good, so I'll give them a look.
