It will, as long as the software doesn't connect to a database to check the keys, it would work.

The keys are in the registry

I'm not so sure mirroring will work or even use the same harddrive on a new computer. It could for example take note of what what hardware you are using and stop working if you change. I think all programs can access info on what motherboard and so on you're using. If they are not working that way now, that's a tip for the GOTD-team. : )

If you like the software, buy it. I know a couple of them that I'll buy when I change computer.

No you don't get it "k". When you install and activate something it leaves a reg key on your compy. The reg key has the activation key and username. And secondly, as long as the program doesn't phone home to see if the key is legit, then you could have multiple copies on one or more compys.

But it's against the rules.

I'm amazed at the people who don't seem to understand the concept here.
It's free for one day, not forever.
If you can afford a new computer, can't you afford the software you enjoy using also? ;)

Yeah the legality is questionable, but it would still work. Hypothetically. As you are just mirroring a drive, rather then re-installing. reinstalling requires you to fire up an executible.

Normally when you mirror a drive, you will transfer the registry, as it holds all settings to almost all apps. So they will transfer unless you do it all manually.

That's the same type of question as re-installation which is against the philosophy/policies of GAoTD.

I would guess that if you use drive mirroring software, it would be activated on your new computer. This isn't from personal exprience; it's more of an educated guess. If it doesn't work, there's no way I know of to transfer the giveaways.

Is it possible to transfer the daily giveaway to another computer after the day it was activated - and would it still be activated on the new computer?
