I'd like to add another software that could help to extract PDF content like text(with fond) and image, or directly convert PDF to word.

I bought v5 early in 2008 as I needed a good word to PDF and vice verca converter. Now they have released v6 which has several upgrades that made it worth my while paying for the upgrade, which cost me just under £16. It may be that you can upgrade v4 as well. Though you may have to register you name with the company first. I don't know whether that is possible with the version that was given away free, but just in case you can, the link to the upgrade offer can be found below the list of new facilities. You'll have to hurry though because the offer is time limited. I don't know what the differences were between v4 and v 5 but the following have been added to v6:

    * Increased interactivity, with the ability to create Forms in your PDFs
* New Document Management with support for the Bates Numbering index
* Improved conversion of hyperlinks into PDF files
* New support for converting Javascript into PDF files
* Added security with improved document encryption
* Easier access to the most popular features
* Improved ergonomic user interface

v6 link:

Expert PDF 4 has become available as part of another pay offer. Maybe not worth it, but I leave it to smarter heads to decide. For the 10th, the Italian Avanquest promo bundles it into a promotional suite for 10 euros. They took 10 of their titles and bundled them into a download/CD package. You can download immediately and you'll get a CD copy with no shipping charges in 10 days. Here's the lineup:

Connection Manager, PC Booster 5 accelerator, Smart PC, Expert PDF 4, IdiomaX Express, WebEasy 6 web site designer, Digital Video Duplicator 3 video and DVD copy software, Smart Image Recovery, Fix-it 6, Xmas screensaver. Limited additon: 5,000 downloads + CDs available. Some or all likely in Italian.

Buzz, Thank you very much for the instructions on getting this to work in English. The only extra bit I had to do was manually change my start menu entries to English, which wasn't too difficult.

Using the same sort of lateral thinking, I installed the Spanish version of MediaMonkey and by deleting a folder with the specifically Spanish files I was able to get a fully English version. Unfortunately, I learned from the English that it was only a trial version. I might revisit this to see if one of the Spanish files gives a full license.

I also be more daring in installing other programs ostensibly for a particular language to see if a workaround can be found. It is noticeable that many of these Avanquest programs, even if for French, German, Spanish or Italian users, have the subfolders and filenames in English.

Buzz, thanks. Your process worked. I did have trouble finding the old trial version on their website (looked under support, but just found FACs and requests to enter a ticket number. Anyway, got it from soft32.com (pretty slow download) and then following your process have it working in English.

Hi Lakjin, no just stupid, lol. There are around 700 custom made maps for Battlefield 2 and at least 50 viable mods. I took it upon myself to review most of those and even did walkthroughs for some, though only parts of the review were ever published on the net. It was meant to collect all the maps together with download links so taht you wouldn't have to search the net for maps as not all were available from the same place. About 50% of the links are now dead and I can't be bothered with it any more as I spent far too much time already on the project. I bought expert pdf specifically so that I could create an uploadable file for the BF2 community, but as the community is almost extinct now I've not bothered uploading it., lol (that's where the mad comes in). I do realize how esy it is to write a book now though.

This is what worked for me. I used the full ver with serial from the spanish site) [If I still used illegal stuff like I used to, I'd just have gotten the v5.5 full using torrent instead of all this stuff.]

1. Install (old v4 trial) available from their website under support.
2. Save the 2 help files.
3. Uninstall it.
4. Install Spanish or maybe Italian full version. (copy/save serial given)
5. Delete all the files in the programs dir of "Resources".
6. Copy the 2 saved help files from the uninstalled trial to root dir of program.
7. Use in full english now.

ps- just saw above post. I also thought of that, maybe they will still offer it on the UK site. But already have it, just in case they don't offer it.

Falands and you other good folks, let me give you a quick explanation on what's going on and, maybe, an easier way of getting this in English. To clarify, so far it's been offered free by Avanquest Spanish and Italian.

AlexSJ noticed, and was kind enough to post, that Avanquest in Europe was running Advent calendars with various offers for the 24 days preceding Xmas. I started a thread here:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/4382

where I list the daily offers. Avanquest has branches in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. They also have an American branch, but it's not participating. I'm guessing because most Protestant Americans would have no idea what an Advent calendar was. One way to see the various sites is to look at the bottom of the calendars where you'll see the other links. The last site, blitzbox.de duplicates the calendar on the main German site. When we look at these offers, it often isn't clear whether they have multi-language suppot.

The promotions are available at least until December 25th, so let me make a suggestion. The countries are offering a lot of the same software on different days, so the UK may have the English version of ExpertPDF coming up. If you want to try the others, it's day 17 on the Italian site and day 9 on the Spanish site.

Another Advent calendar that Alex found that might interst you is from the German Chip computer magazine:
http://www.chip.de/artikel/Download-Adventskalender-2008_33781926.html
I keep on eye on that one, too, in the Avanquest thread, but I've only mentioned one giveaway - Cool Record Edit Pro on the 7th, because it's in English. The rest of the giveaway's say they're in German, but I suspect some have multi-language support. Notblocklox listed some of the early ones in the other thread. They have a lot of giveaways, including a for Xmas wallpaper section that has some Xmas, some American animated characters, some bikini shots, some simple Xmas games and a simple art program.

internaught, where did you find this. I found a language key set to 00000409, but no Locale key at all. I got the program from the link above and all of the files in the resources folder are .ita (Italian). Since your locale key was .esp it makes me think you had a spanish version not the Italian version from the link above. Can you help?

I paid around 50 pounds for this earlier this year, though mine was v5. I highly recommend it over any of the pdf converters we've been given via the giveaway project Though I don't know the difference between 4 and 5. I bought it to convert a 1200 page review I'd written for Battlefield 2 (includes reviews of most custom made maps) to pdf which included several hundred images.

If you don't get it today, the offers will be good at least until Xmas day, so you can still get it from either of the sites. Thanks, Alex. I got distracted a day from posting the Avanquest offers. Also posted here to let people know that Whiterabbit posted in that thread also recommending ExpertPDF. So I guess you could say that's two thumbs up. Haven't tried it myself.

Today Avanquest is giving away a free version of Expert PDF, which lets you create, print to and edit pdf files. Version might be in Italian only,I downloaded it on the 9th from their Spanish Site and it doesn;t appear to be multilingual.
http://web.avanquest.com/special_offers/2008_calendar/calendar.cfm?country_id=5&tr1=AQ_UK_EM_AD_LAUNCH_011208

Anyway, if you cannot afford a full version of Adobe Acrobat, this is a good alternative. It even has watermarks included.
