Thanks for posting these! The Sierra KQ games and Laura Bow games were the first I ever played with graphics. Before that, it was just text adventures, like Zork.

You can also go to http://www.gamershell.com/news_6649.html to get the KQ2VGA game, and they also have the voice pak and the music pak, to add on to the game.

Note: If you try to get to the KQ2 remake through Abandonia, the link will take you to AGD, who makes the VGA remake of another Sierra series, which is a little more on the RPG side, although still with adventure elements. The KQVGA remakes were done by Tierra, which no longer exists.

are you using dos rabbi? 99% of the games from abandonia require dos to execute. Dosbox is the preferred emulator for those of us using XP and Vista.

I've not had any problems with Vista support that I couldn't fix with another program or patch. I'm happy with Vista. I like it better than my XP, but I've got a hog of a computer that can run it with no hiccups.

I couldn't get these games to run natively on Vista, but they work perfect in dosbox. If you need a quick tutorial on how to run dosbox, please read here:

You are all very welcome for today's games. These two really were the pioneers of point and click adventure games.

Randy, I would go ahead and start with the first one. It's a great story that wasn't really hyped much until the game was released. Because of the first one, Sierra decided they should make more games based upon Sir Graham and his adventures.

Midori, there are actually a total of 8 King's Quest games, and I have not played them all. Roberta Williams, co-founder of Sierra, was the person who created all 8 of the games and pretty much solidified the company in the gaming world. I would imagine that the other 6 are just as good if not better than these two.

Regards,
AH

Today’s free games are fan made remakes of King’s Quest 1 and 2. These remakes are VGA, which drastically enhance the look and sound of the original games. King’s Quest was one of the first and most loved adventure games of its time. The story revolves around Sir Graham of Daventry. In the first King’s Quest, the player is taken through a myriad of quests to recover 3 lost artefacts to prove he’s worthy of becoming King. In the second game, Graham is now King of Daventry but is in need of a wife. His magic mirror tells the story of a mysterious woman trapped in another dimension. The games tend to be rather funny at times (Sierra was famous for comedic adventures.)

I highly recommend downloading these two games, because they really deserve to be played by all gamers.

Download King’s Quest 1(22.2mb):

Download King’s Quest 2 (43.4mb):
