1. Check that Internet Explorer is 100% intact and not set to "Work Offline"

2. Forget Firefox (as a cause) - I believe the Activation talks directly to Microsofts Internet Layer (ie. Internet Explorer). Users who have had damaged IE installs (or partial - thanks to nLite) have no luck.

3. Can you run IE without Add-ins loaded etc. & no firewall, proxy, ad-filtering etc.

BuBBy

I'm sorry that I missed your comment and am just now responding to your question. They are message that I received is the same one that I've gotten many times in the past - "unable to connect with GiveawayoftheDay server".

I have made a great many changes on my computer during the past several days. When I checked the operating systems "system files" I found corrupt files as well as missing files. I ran the SFC /scannow Windows application followed by reinstalling SP 3. I haven't noticed any problems other than having to reinstall some programs since I made the changes on my computer.

Since I have gone such a long time without having a connection to server problem I am not make any further changes until I have a chance to see if today's problem is an isolated one.

I have noticed over the past several weeks that logging into this forum sometimes takes an inordinate amount of time. It makes no difference whether I'm using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3. If this happens while I'm using Firefox, Firefox gives me a message saying that the server is redirecting my request. This problem does not happen all the time but it happens enough that I was moved to ask if anyone else was having the same problem. When I last checked, no one had replied to my question. I'm glad that drop also. I'm in a forgiving mood tonight.

Bigun, are you getting any particular error messages?

Have you installed anything that might've changed your network or browser settings?

Any networking hardware changes or changes to the config?

In most cases it is something either you have changed (knowingly or otherwise) and this is good because it is then possible for you to change them back (once identified)

Although much less likely - your internet provider could possibly have made changes (proxies etc) - if you have more than one PC, do they both fail activation?

I have gone from months in the past not being able to activate a Giveawayoftheday offer. Then for months I did not have any trouble. Hallelujah, the problem is back (I wonder how long it will last this time)I have not been gotten after all.
