Their testing methodology as explained <a href="http://www.anti-malware-test.com/?q=node/54">Here</a> is in my opinion not a realistic test. Essentially - they hand select twelve (12) sources of Malware - and install and confirm the malware is running "correctly" - and then install one of the listed Antivirus products to determine to what extent it can remove them. Of course in the real world - the test would be: The user already has an AntiVirus product installed and running - and an attempt to install Malware is blocked from the outset. That is because the AV in Threatfire is on-demand - it is not 'real time' protection. The AV only 'turns on' whenever you use the scanner it self.
