I didn't actually see the red WOT warning (despiute using the WOT rating myself)as I'd assumed it would be alright; so I downloaded the file and then clicked on the dolphin link which did bring up a red alert, but I still didn't check the top right hand corner of my screen. I was so keen to get a few screensavers free that I checked a couple more of the links and found that the Jupiter link didn’t bring up the pop up, so downloaded that one as well. Then I installed both screensavers and was pleasantly surprised to find the Jupiter one was from the same Solar System series as the Uranus and Neptune ones I posted yesterday. Anyway it was only then that I read about the red WOT rating, so I decided to test the files I'd downloaded and found them to be as clean as a whistle, also, so far, the screensavers have given me no trouble. I'm going to leave the screensavers running to see if anything untoward happens and also check my registry for any odd entries that relate to the website that I downloaded the files from.

I wont post the Jupiter link due to the concerns that some may have , with it being a red site, but if you are keen to get a hold of this to increase your solar system screen savers then just look to the right of the page and you'll see a link to the free Jupiter download.

Because I've had an interest in astronomy from since I was a kid (following getting a small refractive telescope for my 8th birthday) I’m keen to complete the solar system collection, but some I don't think are worth buying (this being one of them) - I think the Jupiter one was given away several months ago, but I lost that to a format.

So far I'm very pleased with it despite the red rating overshadowing the download.

And thanks again for posting the link even if it has turned out to be risky.

I will report back sometime in the coming days or weeks to say whether anything came of the installation. I will be keeping them on this computer, but wont install them elsewhere until I'm sure they are safe. (Actually I will and I'll do a registry comparison before and after)

regards

Well I tested only this one, and my computer is fine, I'm only going to do this for one week, free screen-savers, then I'll stop.

I won't use it again.
Thanks for the warning,

The Firefix plugin WOT lists the website http://www.3d-savers.com as dangerous and untrustworthy. There are comments indicating that it distributes malware.

It depends where the screensavers installer is set to save them to. Usually the root directories program files folder, plus the developers name.

eg C:\Program Files\Astro Gemini Software

Hi! On the subject of screensavers, what file does Windows XP save screensavers to? I would like to know so I can edit my screensavers? What about Windows 95 or 98? Please, let me know.

I'm all for that webmaster as screensavers are my second love after games. :) (apart from useful applications, lol). I look forwards to seeing more. Don't forget to check out the screensavers from the other thread that I mentioned yesterday.
