I found Tank Wars, here: http://members.chello.at/theodor.lauppert/games/tankwars.htm

I think that's the one you meant. It uses DOSBox, which I tried for a little while, but I got rid of it cause it kept freezing. Some people love it though. also, there's an online flash game that looks similar, but it looks like the idea has been expanded upon, and that's here: http://www.funny-games.biz/tank-wars.html

I was just looking at a few things here, I've been coming here for about a year now, to the giveaway sites, but I just never joined. I'd also like to say Stephen is awesome for doing all of this for us, so thanks a whole lot Stephen.

Thanks Stephen. I have a question. I have been looking everywhere and have found no answer. Do you remember that old MS-DOS game called Tank Wars? I have been looking on the internet for that game that I could play on my new windows xp system. I would like it to be free but if it's not it would be good to know. Is it out there anywhere because that had horrible graphics but was a crazy awesome game lol ;]

Thanks for the link Linda, that deserves it's own thread because there are some excellent free games free there. I'm severly lacking in free puzzle games in my freeware library. I may just post a few of those later (with you being credited for the find of course.... :)

Marble Tactics

Here’s a puzzle game for those who prefer to stay away from anything regarded as violent. Unfortunately, good free puzzle games are a lot harder to come by than many of the other genres of games (possibly due to their timelessness), so I’m afraid I don’t have as many in the library of free games that I have ready for posting. Today’s game is called Marble Tactics, though it isn’t a marble rolling game as some may surmise from the title of the game. It’s a 12.67Mb download from gamershell, which has a great download speed, so those on dial up should get the maximum speed out of their modems.

About Marble Tactics

Marbles Tactics is a strategy puzzle game that involves creating lines of 4 or more marbles to make them explode! Watch out, because every move that doesn't make a match will add more marbles to the board. Use special marbles to remove multiple lines at once and rack up big points! Huge scores are earned by forming lines with more than four marbles. Take on classic mode for 20 levels that will work your brain and try your wits. Or go for the high score with the never-ending nerve-busting endurance mode where you can play as long as you can survive!
