I'm a fan of the USDA's Nutritive Value of Foods list - H&G Bulletin 72 - and still use my ancient dogeared 1970 copy even though some of the info is out of date. (turns out mercury isn't really a healthy macronutrient in swordfish after all) That bulletin's probably accessible via QD's posted infobase/links page above; if not, Uncle Sam finally went high-tech a few years back, coming out with a downloadable PDF version of the HG 72.
After years of wanting what you're talking about, I gave up and just created my own database of my most popular dishes using Lotus Approach.
Maybe it's time to search again. Many of the costly nutritional/diet software appls tap into HG72, but I see several freeware titles here do, too, to some extent or another. Can't say if they actually let you plug in different measurements and food combos and then auto-calculate.

Hello catk102,

I found this one for the moment :

http://nutritionanalyser.com/recipe_manager/recipe_manager.htm

The download links are here :

http://nutritionanalyser.com/download/download.html
( They are on the right of the page )

There is a free guide to nutrition here :

http://www.nutritionanalyser.com/food_composition/

There is a list of links here :

http://www.nutritionanalyser.com/infobase/links.htm

There is also a (paying) big brother called Nutrition Analyser :

http://www.nutritionanalyser.com/index.html

I hope this helps you a bit

I wonder if anyone knows of a free cooking/recipe software that can calculate nutritional values as I enter the recipe, and possible has copy and paste abilities.
In an ideal world I'd like to be able to c&p in say 1pound of beef 1 pound of flour 4 tomatoes and it'll calculate carbs and calories etc.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks
Kat
