Thanks mooma. I would still always check the files for viri before you install them. There are so many AV programs out there and I only use two of them. Sometimes I may possibly miss something that say for example McAfee or Norton pick up (I principally use F-Secure and as a back up PCGuard)

I do make sure the sites I download from are green according to WOT, but even that's not always guaranteed either.

I would even go as far as to say make a restore point before you install the game, or if you’re like me and use that rollback system that was given away several months ago called Eaz-Fix, create a roll back. At least then if something does go awry, you can go back to the way it was.

To be honest, I think its good practice to do such things. It's only a minor inconvenience, but you at least have your computers safety assured.

Eaz-Fix received quite a bad press when it was given away because some were concerned that it overwrote the Master Boot Record (MBR) - some say that’s a ‘no no’, but don’t ask me why, because I've never had any problems since installing the application. For me it's probably been the best ever giveaway, and once I get around to it (not had any reason to yet), I'll be buying it because it has already saved my system several times. My children despite being warned still visit crack sites to find cheats for their DS games. Several times it's resulted in bad viri, so I've rolled back the system and got rid. It's brilliant.

Suki, that doesn't bode well for playing game (not meaning to sound flippant by the way) :( I do hope it's a false alarm.

corporatela, I wondered what you were talking about, lol…….. I did live in Germany for a few years, but my language skills have all but disappeared as it's been almost 30 years since I lived there. I've only been back to Germany once several years ago, but then it was a whistle stop trip while on the way to visiting family in Poznan via Warsaw. I just about managed to get by with what language I remembered, but to write in German; that's long since past. :(

I'm sure we all miss stuff that's right in front of our noses. Has anyone seen that management exercise where there's a list of instructions which have to be followed. The first one says, ignore all but the last instruction, which was to sign your name at the bottom of the sheet.

jenany,

Thanks (embarrassed). Oops. That sort of thing happens to me all the time. Something is right in front of my nose, and I cannot see it. Oh well, at least it got me to try a translator, and that is a good thing.

Good luck.

@corporatela -- if you look on the upper right hand side of the web page, you'll see a link that takes you to the English version of the site. Just an FYI ...

Thanks to you, whiterabbit, for posting this alternative for us all! :-)

Stephen,

You are like a patron saint for GOTD. We are very lucky to have you. I looked on the German site, and downloaded the games, and am further amazed at the cracker-jack job you did of editing the English translations from the original German. When I tried capturing the Google WordTranslator translation, on my own, English and German were intermixed.

So, thank you very much.

Good luck.

Hi 4shadown - no I'm not privvy to the GGOTD workings. It's just when the game hasn't been posted before within half an hour of the post time, it's not arrived. :( "Cest la vie"

I hope the games I've posted above are okay.

Of the games I've suggested I'd certainly give Crazy Hexagon and Crazy Patterns a try. They are very absorbing puzzles. Crazy Hexagon reminds me of Ribricks cube a little, though it's a 2D puzzle, not 3D like Rubrick. Also Crazy Area and Crazy Boxes are fun.

The link above (in the first post) takes you to the main page - you need to click the crazy freeware link thats just under the images that looks like a red box wrapped up as a present.

Crazy games:

I was going to post this sometime over the coming week, but as there appears to be no game giveaway today I thought I'd post it today.

There’s a whole wad of free ‘crazy’ puzzle games available from the link below; (I promised Swan that I’d post some puzzle games this week, so here you are. :) I’m sure someone posted a link to a couple of these games several months ago, but I can’t find the post, so I can't acknowledge who it was. These games differ from the usual arcade game in that they are all exclusively window only games and there is no options menu to adjust sound etc; however, despite this, some of these puzzles are of a very high quality, and most are extremely challenging. I reckon these games alone would keep most arcade gamers occupied for a week or two.

http://www.crazybytes.at/

The descriptions of each game that follows is the wrk of the author.

Crazy Area v2.4:

At the beginning the rectangular game area is 20 x 15. You have to cover the game area with the different formed tiles. Do not leave spare areas. Mind the time! The tiles consist of not more than 9 squares. The tile you have to place next is shown in a small window on the right. Before you place the tile you can rotate it in 90° steps or turn it over. If it doesn't fit or you don't want to use it, you can change it to a new one. But that decreases your score. If time is over the program changes automatically to the next level. Now the new game area consists only of the fields covered in the level before. Time is shortened as well. So the game area and the time is reduced from level to level, until the final crash cannot be avoided any more. The point of the game is to reach an utmost high level and score. Then you can place yourself in the highscore list.

Crazy Boxes:

Start your work in the twisty corridors and push all the yellow boxes on their designated places. But don’t block yourself your way. Put the red boxes beside or use them to dry the water holes to get place for your pushing activities. Don’t let disturb you by the turnstiles which are placed by chance. 163 tricky exercises guarantee long lasting food for your brains.

Crazy Changes:

The puzzle consists of three different colored rows to three squares each. Three blue tiles are on the three red squares, three red tiles are on the three blue squares, two white tiles are in two white squares, one white square is empty. Move one tile to the empty square, if it is next to it. The shape of the tiles show you, how to move them. Some can only be moved diagonally, others only straightly. The point of the puzzle is to bring all tiles to squares of their color. This means, the red tiles must be on the red squares at end. More than 200 different startup variations supply your brain for a long time.

Crazy Digit:

The game consists of 5 sticks and a gamefield. It will be possible to create 55 different figures with the 5 sticks connected together, turned or mirrored figures excluded. The aim of the game is, to re-lay these 55 figures in short time by moving sticks. Choose the figure, you are going to re-lay carefully, because if you move more than one stick, it will be unfavourable for your score. You should not use too much time in thinking, otherwise time is running and then everything is lost again in the end. The right combination of logic and intuition will help you to get on.

Crazy Fits:

In this game you find a board of 8x8 squares. The game tiles, which you can place on the squares of the board, contain four small pieces like beads, rocks, pebbles, ... In the beginning four such tiles already lie on the board. Right of the board you see a new tile, which you must take and drop on an empty square, but edgewise to one or more already placed tiles. This will only work, if the pieces on the new tile are the same as the pieces, to which you want to drop them. The new tile can be rotated while dragged. If there is no chance, that the new tile will fit , you can eliminate it by dropping it in the black hole right of the board. If you succeed placing 9 tiles in a 3x3 sqare, you will reach the next level. Now the board will be cleared and a new kind of piece (e.g. wood) will appear. So the count of different pieces increases and it will become more and more difficult to place tiles. The shrinking time bar shows you the remaining time. Each placed tile makes it longer but not long enough to play endless.

Crazy Gomoku:

This strategy game, which is based on the Japanese GO, will challenge your brain at the most. In a 19x19 board you place alternating with your opponent one of your symbols. The point of the game is, to bring 5 of your symbols in a row (diagonally or straightly), before your opponent does it. If you don't know how to move, the computer will help you with a suggestion. If you don't see a chance to win, you can give up. The size of the board and the color and shape of the symbols are selectible.

Crazy Hexagon:

The game takes place on a hexagon, which is divided in 6 colored sectors. Additionally you will find a different number of triangles, depending to the game level, on the hexagon. All triangles are divided in groups of smaller hexagons, which overlap each other. each triangle has one of the 6 colors of the game. Each triangle is colored at random but every color has the same number of triangles. Click in the centre of a hexagon and the 6 belonging triangles will move from one to the next in rotation. The puzzle is solved, if in all sectors are only triangles colored like the sector.

Crazy Jumpin’ Jack:

Jumpin' Jack is a red ball, which jumps under your control across a pattern of green platforms. This platforms will disappear, if he leaves it. He can't jump diagonally, only straightly. He can jump to an adjective platform or over it or over an empty space to the next platform. He won't be able to jump over a longer distance. If he jumps to an empty place, he falls and the level is lost. If only one platform is left, the jump brings him to the next level. The point of the game is to plan Jack's way carfully so that he will reach all platforms. In 200 levels you can prove your talent in planning.

Crazy Loops:

In a game 12 x 8 area you have to place different pieces of straight, bended or crossed pipes. On the right there is a conveyor, serving the pipes. Take the lowest and place it on the game area. Try to build a locked up system. If one is ready, it will disappear and your score and the game level will increase. Now there is space for further more constructions. Some pipes will not fit together, so you will have to work on more than one system at the same time. Besides the shrinking timebar will disturb your concentration. The higher the score the faster it will shrink. Each placed pipe makes it longer but not long enough to play an endless game. Definitely the game will come to an end.

Crazy Matrix:

Crazy Matrix is an logical combination game. Push the buttons and the effect will surprise you. Only if all lamps are on, you can cheer.

Crazy Objects:

You are confronted in this game to three pairs of different objects. The two objects of a pair have the same shape but different color. One is the counterpart of the other. Before you begin playing you must choose one of forty start up patterns. Beside the board you see six buttons, one is pressed, which means, that this object is selected. You can change this selection. Now start eliminating objects in the board by clicking them. But only objects, which are the counterpart of the selected. For example: A red ring can only be eliminated, when the blue ring is selected. This won't work if there is a selected object next to that one, you want to eliminate. So look carefully at the neighbors. If no elimination is possible, you can convert one object to another, but pay attention to the neighbors too. Converted objects are covered and cannot be eliminated at once. Try to eliminate all uncovered objects. Are there only covered objects on the board, they will be uncovered automatically. Now a second rounds begins. If you succeed in eliminating all objects, the puzzle is solved.

Crazy Octogram:

Every oktagram consists of eight identical triangles. Try to build a copy of the shapes shown in the little window. You must use all eight triangles. At some shapes the solution is found quickly, others make you work hard. There are 222 different shapes. They will challenge you for a long time.

Crazy Pattern:

The game area is 18 x 14 matrix. In this area a lot of different symbols are distributed at random. On the right you see a pattern of 3 x 3. Find a copy of this pattern in the big matrix as fast as you can and mark it with the white frame. Instead of this pattern different symbols will appear. The higher the level the more different symbols will be in the game. To find a pattern will become more and more difficult. Besides the shrinking timebar will disturb your concentration. The higher the level the faster it will shrink. Each found pattern makes it longer but not long enough to play an endless game. Definitely the game will come to an end.

Crazy Sets:

The game consists of 81 cards with symbols on it. The symbols can vary in four manners: The count can be 1, 2 or 3. The color can be red, green or blue. The shape can be triangle, square or circle. The pattern can be empty, solid or criss cross. In the beginning 16 cards lay open on the board. Now try to find sets of 3 cards which observe this rule: Every of the 4 qualities must be on all 3 cards exactly the same or totally different. If you think, you've found a set, click the three cards. If they build a set, they will disappear and make place for the next. The game ends, when all 81 cars are used or, what is more probably, you cannot move. The more cards you used and the faster you found sets, the higher your score.

Crazy Tangram:

Five triangles in 3 different sizes, one square and one rhombus are the seven pieces, every Tangram is consisting of. If you prefer the more figurative Tangrams, like humans, animals, buildings, tools, ..., or the more abstract ones, that's your choice. One is fix, you must always use all seven pieces. It looks easy, but sometimes you will be happy, that there isn't a time limit. It also will happen, that you think, you have done it, but there is another piece left, that you must use too. 330 Tangrams are the guaranteed for continual fun.

Crazy Towers:

On the 8x8 board of this strategy game bricks and bombs in packages of 1 to 4 are distributed at random. Also you'll find one or more bananas. Right to the board there is a foundation. It will be your job to build a tower there. The computer opponent tries to do the same left to the board. To be able to build your tower you need bricks, which you find on the board. The more bricks will be in the package you click, the faster your tower will grow. This sounds easy, but it isn't at all. You also see a thin rectangle, that frames a row or column of the board. You only can take bricks, which are inside this rectangle. After you have taken bricks the rectangle will rotate from row to column or vice versa. After your it's your opponents turn. You can control his moves but he can do that too. Sometimes it will be better to take a smaller package to prevent a big catch of your opponent. If there aren't any bricks in the rectangle, you have to take one or more bombs or a banana. Bombs logically reduce the height of towers. bananas are harmless, nothing will happen. Even the rectangle will stay on it's location. The winner of this fight will be the one, who completes his tower first or, if no further move is possible, whose tower is higher.
