After a quick look at Privacy Guardian I would confidently say that if you have Total Privacy keep it, and don't even bother with this software. If you don't have TP, and only use CCleaner, this gives you much more options and tweaks. In addition it supports over 100 third party programs. But as mentioned, be careful in using this option.

What makes me think TP is better than PG:
- Generally more areas to wash.
- More options for the user to choose in each case.
For example you can edit index.dat files, and installed components in IE (PG doesn't even have an option to remove installed components).
- You can make different profiles that are saved, so you can easily select what to wash instantly.
- TP has in addition a list over startup items that you can disable.
- It has it's own password generator.
- Has over 450 plugins! (included third party programs, and other custom options).
- It tells you what it does (an explanation is given for every choice, so you'll be sure what you're deleting).
- Overall much more settings for customization.

There is no doubt in my mind that Total Privacy is much better, but as I said, if you don't have it Privacy Guardian is OK for it's use. At least it's better than CCleaner.

Total Privacy is in a completely different class than CCleaner. It does everything CCleaner does, and many times more. The only advantage CCleaner has as I see it is the registry cleaner, and that's all I use it for. For everything else I have TP.
I was also wondering how this is compared to TP, but I've downloaded it and I'll check it out...

Robert,
Thanks for the explanation. If it's going to shred things, wouldn't think we'd have a need to 'bleach'.

Hi Copmom,

In short:bleaching free space means scrambling the 'free' space of your drive. This way previous deleted files cannot be recovered using common recovering software.

Salut Manu!
Thanks for sharing that article in the French forum.

-ve's (negatives) so far:

- don't select to run at start up, as you might have left 'Bleach Free Space'
which can slow you right down, a bit hard to cancel.

- if you wish to bleach free space, do it when you're asleep in bed as it takes ages to do.

Bonjour Everyone

Interesting offer
But I was just wondering about Total Privacy - we got an upgrade from PointStone not long ago.

Have both TP & cCleaner installed.
Don't know if it would be necessary *or* a plus to have this installed as well?
A bit of overkill, oui?

HD is blotted & crying mercy ... I'm trying to cut down on this Download Addiction I developed here :D ...
Even though my "To Dwld" folder is bursting still ... *sigh*
So much to discover ... So little time ...

If anybody has time for a bit of advice on this dancing trio: Privacy Guardian, Total Privacy, cCleaner, it'd be much appreciated!!

Peace!
PS: Bonjour ~Robert~ - Salutations mon Ami *-)
