It's more than likely that the registration key is only for the build you downloaded from here.

Any update might need a further payment.

Stick with the version from here.

Make sure you don't allow it to connect to the net by refusing it via your firewall prompts.

Actually ... seems pretty easy to fix (for another 30 days?) by removing a couple of registry entries.

Mine still works just fine. Sounds like you didn't activate it correctly. Under Help and About, it should have said registered to giveawayoftheday. But you had to do it correctly on January 20th. :(

Crystal Player phoned home yesterday. afgter displaying a message to the effect that the "trial period" was over and an update was required.

Now there are banners over the video.

Was that in the fine print somewhere? Not what I expected.
