Further, the program won’t register unless you look up the registration information in the registry and enter it manually, which alters its file, C:\Commands.cfg

thanks for the info.

as for "dangerous downloads by Yahoo!" that's the pot calling the kettle black...

for the rest, Ill be careful.

Re: Tray Commander - The other day I was looking for some information about a previous GAOTD (I’ll spare the details) and came across a comment that may be related to these registration problems. How exactly so I couldn’t say but I thought it might be of interest. So whatever its worth here’s the applicable excerpt:

“First of all, because the developer also has keyloggers, the website is listed as dangerous by TrendProtect, dangerous downloads by Yahoo!, and blacklisted (blocked) by my security software (I could unblock it). Installation on Vista requires running Tray Commander as an Administrator. Further, the program won’t register unless you look up the registration information in the registry and enter it manually, which alters its file, C:\Commands.cfg. Any of you who thinks it’s registered, better check your About box. I have to agree with BladedThoth’s review on this one. What’s the point? Yet another launcher, with the usual extras thrown in. Doesn’t even alphabetize correctly (then again, neither does Windows). You can have six different menus (left-, middle-, right-; click, double-click), but then, there are endless ways to setup menus without Tray Commander.” Comment made by "Fubar"

Hope this will be of some help,
Renegade

Well, wouldn't you know it. My copy is again unregistered. Using the registry executable I made when I first registered the game, seems to work, but then when I restart the cmputer it reverts to default (ie the stupid strike out on all the menu items and it says I have x number of days left.

To be honest, I think it's going to be deleted. It's not worth all the hassle I've gone through to try and keep it registered.

I wonder how many others have unregistered copies?

Hey guys! I installed Tray Commander on three XP machines and one Vista. All registered fine at the time. Now, at least three of the PCs are telling me that Tray Commander is now unregistered. Guess I won't be using this one! :^)

When I first activated the program I made an executable registry file. Once I'd installed the program and checked to see if it was registered I changed the menu so that the strikeout feature was disabled because the menu looked appalling the way it was set up in.

I hadn’t disabled it from the start up menu, so it was opened whenever I turned my computer on, but until the message that said I wasn’t registered came up I didn’t realize that it had reverted to being a demo.

Anyway, I used the registry file I’d created after activati8ng the program and it reactivated the program. I can’t figure out how it had de-registered in the first place though because to create the registry executable you first need to have a registered program? Very Strange. Anyway, at least it’s now re-registered. I’m not sure whether I’ll be keeping this one though.

I didn’t bother downloading it the first time around and only downloaded it out of curiosity this time. I like the way you can choose the font for the menus, but so far nothing else hits me with the thought that I want to keep this.

p.s.

I couldn't find an ini file in the games folder, though I didn't bother looking for hidden files, which i think ini files tend to be???

I had the same problem the morning after.
It displayed them ugly fonts with strikeout again,so I noticed something was wrong.LOL.
Only had 10' left to uninstall and reinstall the program. No problems since.

Looks like I didn't register my copy of Tray Commander properly because a reminder to register popped up today, 6 days after it was given away. Has anyone else had this problem. I could have sworn I checked to see that it was registered as I usually do with any software I decide to try out.
