I have several of the above programs on my machine, as well as many others. The main thing (unlike AVG) is I prefer being able to use them to check my machine when I please. AVG took over my emails, etc., with no option to NOT run on startup, etc. I don't want any of them to run on startup.. they might conflict with my Anti Virus and Firewall, so I turn them on when I want to. The differences are that while some find some errors, trojans, viruses, spyware, etc., none of them find all, so I run them one at a time and each on picks up something different.

Hi Jinkazame,
i suppose the simple explanation to the difference between AVG,...and....Avast Home Edition,...compared to A2 squared Anti Malware,....is they would be "Main Anti Virus and Anti Spyware Programs",.....and are Realtime Protection,...with auto updates,...while A2 Squared Anti Malware,...would not be used as the main Security for your computer,...i can not remember anyone using this program to act as a fore runner in protection,...i would consider it similar in use to how you would use Ad-Aware,...but with extras. If you were looking for an Anti Malware Program,...there are others that do not risk the chance of problems,...one such is Comodo Anti Malware,...and it is Free,...hope this helps.

Hi copmom,
i have being using the ...A2 Squared Free,....with no problem at all.
and use the...............A2 Squared Free, hijack Free.
No problem with either,....but i did beta testing when the A2 squared Free was first introduced,....it never should have being released,....most people presumed that as the other programs from A2 Squared Free were excellent, that the A2 squared Anti Malware would be the same,...it has proved to be a rouge of a program,.....in my case as with others,...it could not be controlled,......nor deleted,.....when you tried,...your screen froze,.....i was just lucky to have 10 seconds between switching on my computer,...to opening Winpatrol and stopping it,...if you did not have a system monitor like Winpatrol,....you were in bother,...big time,...the link in my previous post overhead will give an indication of what A2 Squared Free Anti Malware is likely to do,...folks if your computer is running well,...do not touch this bag of cats,....smile.

I've been using the free version of this program, A2-Squared for years and love it... and now I have this new updated version.
Paulga, the only one I had BIG problems with like you mention was AVG. That one took over my machine, insisted on running in the background and wouldn't behave, so I ended up removing that one.

No - there have been several in the past.

Previously they were typically larger downloads (ie. > 200MB) that some users would struggle to download in a 24hr period.

Nobody has come forward to confirm that A-square anti-malware is a 2 day GiveAway. The timer in the web page indicates that we have 1 day plus one hour to complete the installation.

I know that it is probably a stupid question because obviously it is offered for two days. Or maybe nobody knows for sure, so I thought I should ask anyway in case somebody knows the answer and has time to drop a note.
