Thanks very much, BuBBy, for your advice. And to you, too, Robert. I'll write to AnVir as you suggest, and hope for the best. And I'll hope that the activation failure continues to be a rare occurrence for me.

Unfortunately there is no facility to do "one off" activations for users who missed the deadline. OMG what a precedent that would create. :P

I would suggest you get in touch directly with the developers at http://www.anvir.com/ and see what arrangement they can make (they might even do a great deal on a full license for AnVir Pro).

It's certainly worth asking - at the worst, they will just say "no".

Dear GOTD:

I rushed into my office this morning at 9:30 (Israel time, which is 11:30 Pacific time) specifically to install AnVir Task Manager on my office computer. I repeated my efforts to activate constantly for about an hour, but every time got the dreaded "Activation module failed to connect to giveawayoftheday.com" message. I rarely have this problem, and I'm sure the problem was at your end and not on my computer. Perhaps your server was overloaded?

I am very disappointed, because I really like AnVir and have reviewed it very favorably both in previous GOTD comments and in my "Jonathan's Tool Bar & Grill" utilities blog (see post #57 at http://jonathanstoolbar.blogspot.com/2008/02/57-new-love-in-my-life.html).

You know me (as JonathansToolBar&Grill in the comments). I am a long-term GOTD devotee, visit your site every day, and frequently contribute useful information in comments. Can you help me with activating AnVir Task Manager? Is there any way you can provide me a late activation?

I will be very grateful for any help you can give. Thank you in advance.
