Not bad, thanks for asking. How you been? I just been playing the Sims 2 an awfully lot and haven't been here that much, but from time to time I do read the board. It pays to keep an eye on this board, found some great giveaways from being a member of this board. Thanks to everyone who has been posting giveaways. The Ashampoo giveaway that someone posted not too long ago was great and the others are great as well and I really appreciated them all. This one is great too and useful too because I like to play casual games as well as The Sims 2, thank you Whiterabbit.

Hi Stephen and Funkymom, I have come across a site that I haven't seen mentioned on the forums, and that is http://www.noodan.com/ (Sorry, don't know how to make it a proper link like you do, lol) They have 477 online games and 695 downloadable games - all free. I am having a wonderful time downloading the games that appeal to me - on dialup, unfortunately, so it is taking a while. You get a screenshot and a short description of the game and there are arkanoids, match 3, platform, arcade, solitaires, etc. There is even a Diner Dash lookalike called Pizza Parlour although I haven't tried it yet. Actually, I haven't tried any of the games to play yet, but some of the screenshots look fantastic. The games range from really small to 20-30mb in size. Yeah, I know, that's small to you lucky broadband people, lol.

Yes it is. I'm amazed at how many full version (with no advertising) arcade games I've got over the past few weeks (Cradle of Rome, two from Big fish games (though unfortunately I already had all of the five that I could choose from) As well as a monthly game from Alawar and Now Deep Ball Defender.

It's strange that only a year or so ago this sort of thing was unheard of. There were no Gametops or My Real Games and definitely no freebies such as what we get now. Maybe its the economic climate???? Personally I don't think that arcade games (though there are exceptions such as Ricochet infinity that has thousands of custom made levels available for free)are worth the nearly $20 price tag we pay for them. I kick myself every time I pay for a game (for example I've just re-purchased Chicken Attack Deluxe, which has become available from Alawar (It's a cool isometric looking arkanoid, so I couldn’t help myself) that I originally got via my Real Arcade membership, but that lapsed two years ago and I wont reinstall Real Arcade so can't get a working copy of the game) Personally I think arcade games should reduce in price like the big brother DVD games do. I bought Medal of Honor: Airborne for over half its selling price only six months after it had been released. You can get the whole set of the original Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield Vietnam for less than the cost of one arcade game and there’s hundreds of custom made levels made by fans for both of these games. (Sorry about the rant, lol) I'm just pleased that the game distributors are relaxing a little.

I think the game giveaway has a lot to do with what has been happening over the last 18 months. :)

Thanks for the appreciation. It's no trouble really as I have so much time on my hands these days. I'm embarrassed to say that I spend most of my waking life on the computer now; but I'm not able to get around and the computer, besides being a form of communication and escapism is one of my analgesics as it really helps to distract me from the pain I get.

I think most of the sites I've posted have actually been ones I've come across by accident. The one above for example was via playing the demo version of deep ball defender. It's strange that the sites that are common to Forex are not linked to each other. It makes me wonder how many there are. A lot of the games that Merril is offering on her site are the same games offered on the Forex sites, but I don't see any mention of Forex.

By the way Merril, sorry I haven't replied to your Email. I will do soon. :)

Stephen, you are right, there are some good games on MyReal Games that aren't available elsewhere. It is good to cross reference all these sites to unearth some new ones.

I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about these free gaming sites. Isn't it wonderful that developers are releasing full version games outside the traditional model of shareware.

The 200 games that I quote above include a lot of online games. I think you'll find a similar number of full version games that you find at Gametop. Thought there are some that I've not seen before. Also one of the games I installed was associated with my play city, but apart from the usual browser being opened there was none of the usual My Play City tricks of trying to install toolbars etc.

For those who wont download games that have such adware then you'll be okay with the Deep Ball Defender game, which is definitely a full stand alone game with no browsers opening at the end of the game. :)

regards

I was sorting through some old files and found a demo of an arkanoid that I didn’t buy, but on playing it again thought I just might as well buy it, so clicked on the buy button. I was surprised to get a message saying the file was not known, but then I saw a little box to the right of the main page saying:

Newsletter: 5 Free Games: full unlimited version of Deep Ball Defender, Cosmic Ball, Space Bubbles, Air Hawk 2, Animal Retreat for subscribers!

The first game in the list was the game I was wanting to buy. You can get all five games within a few minutes of subscribing, all you have to do is give them your Email (for newsletters) and you’ll get an E-mail within seconds with download links to all five games. Air Hawk 2 is one of those 3D helicopter shooters that you can also get free from Gametop, but you don’t get the browser opening when closing the game down. All five games are full version arcade games that would normally cost nearly $20 each. You also get 20% off any other game in their stock, which includes all the big titles and more. (Yeah I know, most of the bigger distributors are offering some sorts of incentives to buy their products) I’m just pleased I’ve got Deep Ball Defender. The rest were just bonus games. :)

You can subscribe by following the link below and completing the small field to the middle right of the main page:

http://www.bdstudiogames.com/

On installing Cosmic ball, (which I thought I recognized) I had my browser opened and discovered that the game was actually associated with gametop via the Forex trading partnership. The site though was Myrealgames instead of gametop. It’s basically the same set up as Gametop, but with a lot more games to choose from. However Deep Ball Defender is from BDStudios and comes with an activation code. The rest are of the gametop type with browsers being opened when you lose the games down. I did check each file for viri and found none. There seems to be no other problems with any of the games. If you’re not keen on the browser thing then you could just get the Deep Ball Defender game which is a reasonable arkanoid. It’s got a vague look of Reflexives top arkanoid Ricochet with metallic looking bricks:

Images:

To check out the nearly 200 games that are available from Myrealgames follow the link below and look to the bottom of the page. If you’re a regular at Gametop you’ll recognize the format.
