Hoping there aren't as many different opinions as there are posters. Maybe one or two will stand out.</p> <p>I'd used Norton from day one of my 'computer life', since it came with my first machine. Finally got tired of it and had heard rave reviews of AVG. But I believe that you get what you pay for, so I bought it. (also so I could put it on my laptop, too. But now it's so crippled from age, it's just about useless!) As with most of us, money crunch is getting tight. Being on disability doesn't help. (now I'm not only physically disabled, I'm financially disabled, too! lol) It's time to renew my license and yesterday I removed the paid for version and downloaded the Free AVG 8. But my friends cousin (that's a good, reliable source, isn't it? hee hee) said she has heard terrible things about AVG 8 and dragging down your computer. So, I figured I'd throw this question out to the group here and hopefully come up with something good. Of course, for good AV software I'll pay if I need to.
