Lol - Yeah - I do have one game called "Anime Bowling Babes" though I never bothered to buy the strip poker game that purpordedly had virtual strippers (typical male), lol :)

Because I'm stuck in the house I'm on the computers virtually all day and when I'm not, I often leave them on (yeah I know, not very green. But I don't drive lol). Most of the games I play are very graphic intensive, so produce a lot of heat from both the GPU and the CPU (as well as the northbridge and the four RAM sticks that I have in all of my computers) I was shocked at the amount of heat that is given off. In winter I have to open the study windows because it gets so hot in there. Especially when the kids have their computers on as well. In summer we can only have the one computer on because it gets too hot.

Not surprisingly, with all the fans I've installed the computers never feel that hot apart from around where the power supply is situated. I'd recommend anyone adding extra cooling to their systems. It's easy to do, fans are cheap and there are different types such as those I mention above. Doing so could save you the loss of a relatively expensive HDD, or even your cpu or graphics card.

I never realized my computers were actually overheating until I installed one of the Hard Drive monitoring programs given away here. I've since bought the program so that I can get updates. (though it's been given away twice now, and the way things seem with the project it could very well be given away again). :) Which would be fabulous as the licence I bought is only good for one computer. ;)

Thanks K8

I posted a UK address and received my serial within three or four minutes :)

Nice one, though some would say that SMART monitoring isn't all that good.

I personally think that any advanced warning is better than none. Even if it was a false positive it's worth the effort of backing up your valuable data. And that's coming from someone whose lost over 200Gb of data in just one go after one of my HDD's died (that was less than six months old). I think it was my fault though as I didn't have adequate cooling; because after installing HDD monitoring software given away from the giveaway project I found the HDD's in my gaming machine were constantly reraching critical temperatures. All my computers have loads of cooling now. he only down side to that is there's more noise from the computers due to all the fans. I've put fans directly onto some of my HDD's as well as those that fit in the bays at the back of the computer plus decent cpu fans and inlet outlet port fans. The temperatures have dropped from 45+ degrees to 20 - 25 degrees. :)

FREE - O&O DriveLED 2 (worth $19.95)

Because hard disk drives contain parts designed to operate with precision to the nearest micro inch or at speeds topping as many a thousand of revolutions per minute, the possibility of a malfunction rises with the age of the hard disk. However, the possibility of a failure and subsequent loss of data is now easily controllable with O&O DriveLED 2. With O&O DriveLED 2 you have a reliable partner that accurately tells you when it is time to backup your important data or even if it is necessary to replace the hard disk. With only one license required for all the hard disks in your computer, you will remain constantly informed as to the condition of your hard disks and, most importantly, be warned in the event of a pending malfunction. O&O DriveLED not only contributes greatly to your system's security and the sustained availability of your data, but is the correct solution for SMART inspections of your hard disk.

Highlights:

* Automatic monitoring using S.M.A.R.T.
* Warning notification of possible operational errors on all hard disk drives
* S.M.A.R.T. self-tests for an immediate health-check of your hard disks
* Displaying the current temperature of each hard disk
* Forecasting the life expectancy of each hard disk
* Tracking and display of read/write access for logical volumes

Follow these instructions to get your free O&O DriveLED 2 license registration serial key code.

1. Visit http://www.oo-software.com/home/en/special/driveled/ and fill out the form using a disposable email address if you have one. If you don't want to give your real address get a fake one from here: http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/ It is only important that you enter a correct email address because the registration code will be sent there. *United Kingdom please note: last time I sent away for a registration code for an O&O offer with a UK address I did not get it, it was only when I entered a bogus USA address I received it straight away.*

2. Check your email and open the email from O&O Register (register@oo-software.com) with the subject Your free license of O&O DriveLED V2.0. Note down the Name, Company and License information.

3. Download OODriveLEDEnu.exe from here: http://www2.oo-software.com/files/oodriveledv2/OODriveLEDEnu.exe and install.

4. Run the program and select Enter registration code when you get the prompt. At the next screen you will need to enter the registration code.
