At the moment for this weekend only you can get a state of the art strategy game called Empire: total War for around the same price as what you'd normally pay for the full client and then there's no need to earn resources to swap for more cards. </p> <p>Apart from that I find the graphics very dated for a modern game. That said, the game is okay for free. </p> <p>As I've said in my reviews, you do need time to play this game. I only played it for several days when it was first given away, but found my own strategy games far better. Great to see it back for those who never got a chance before. you're probably right about the developers being desparate. The first is because the community....isn't really supportive. The second is because there is no "offline" play, and my online time is limited. Finally, the general learning curve is quite hard. Not necessarily the attacking part...which is simple, but how you home town works, setting up game play, and attacking other players.<br /> As a side note, I just got an email offering all of this to me on my previous account. I was a bit reluctant to get into it. Anywho, I went ahead and d/l the pdf instructions and read the 'beginners' one. It sounded like it might be kind of fun and the next day went on and made a nation. I have gotten on for an hour or two each day now and found that it is really fun. I have 3 farms, 4 houses, a gold mine, and am building a lumber mill now. I have been doing good at keeping my peasants happy and working through the 'brownze' quests. I honestly have NOT bought any booster packs and am working with only what was given away. If any of you want to get into it; I HIGHLY recommend reading the 'beginners' pdf that is offered at least. It is filled with a lot of knowledge and explains a lot. It is also written so that if you have never played a game like this you can understand the basics. Then if you want to continue after you get further along you can read the more detailed pdf files. *blush* I havent read them yet, but will once things get going more. Right now I am all about keeping the masses happy and bringing in the gold and wood to build what I need. </p> <p>Definitely a big thumbs up from me!<br /> ibwebb</p> <p>P.S. SUGGESTION-&gt; If you start to play. It is my opinion (wish) that I would have gotten the lumber mill then the gold mine. As it is I've not visited it since early summer. (I hope I can find my passwords, lol) Having lost so many quests to crashes especially ones that I'd co,mpleted, and only had to walk through the portal has left a bad taste in my mouth. I do find it diofficult returning to a game that I've had problems with; though I realize the SAGA team have made a lot of bug fixes since I last played. I've not played either of the expansions despite haing bought them quite some time ago. I've still to get out of the palace dungeon lol. Unfortunately I have so many games I easily get distracted. Though in this case I lost all my progress previously due to upgrading my computers and didn't think to make a back up of my saves. I restarted the game a few months ago, but had to reformat my hard drive recently so lost all my progress yet again. It is a superb game though. I bought the online Lord of the Rings game recently (inspired by SAGA) and at the moment fancy playing that rather than SAGA. I've been invited into a fellowship by a forum friend (from forums elsewhere)and all I need to do is load up the game and create an account. The only down side is that you do have to pay a small monthly subscription for using the servers, but it's minimal and far less than buying a round of drinks for a few friends. I looked for, but didn't find a readme file in the download, so I guess that is a generic instruction for all games, but didn't apply in this case. I did scan the manual for Saga.</p> <p>I didn't get any messages about my video card, so I'm guessing my ATI is okay with the game, but when I entered the world, I had the "ocean" screen. I didn't receive an e-mail from Saga with any serial number, and I am sure I entered my correct e-mail address.</p> <p>After the game crashed four times, and I realized that it was going to "patch" and load up files on my computer every time I signed on, I decided to delete the download. I guess I still have my nation, and it was fun to create the flag and everything. But the download is off my computer. I assume that if I ever want to try again, the nation will be there, but I'm still not sure that I ever got the full version of the game, even though I registered through the page with the "welcome" to GGOTD members.</p> <p>On the bright side, this has freshened my interest in playing Oblivion again, which is a great RPG game. I had tired of it, but now I'm off to play again. I'm not upset in any way, and I hope the game worked for those who really wanted to play it. Still no reply, but I assume they were flooded with query's over the weekend. Anyway, Yesterday I set up an account for my wife, so that now our family has two registered accounts one to my wife and one to me. I was able to download the client with my wifes account so once it had been installed and updated I tried to access my registered account and it worked despite the suspended account message. Maybe it was overwhelmed at the time. So now we have two registered accounts. I hope that this is allowed.</p> <p>I will not be bothering with the accounts that I set up previously when the booster packs were given away as the registered accounts seem much more promising.
