As for the temp files, they were deleted before every reboot..sigh..and the entire network was reconfigured/reinstalled yesterday. Still no joy. As for knowing what I'm doing ..grin..that depends on the level of chemo fog on any given day. I may have taught a skill yesterday that I simply cannot grasp today. Never can tell. It's a lot like early stages of Alzheimer's. Just right click on your internet browsers icon and select internet properties. I'd delete everything (unless you want to keep some of the cookies) You can be selective. Judging by your post and the hardware you have I'm sure you know what youtr doing anyway. Also try turning off your modem and re booting it (leave for a couple of minutes before turning the power back on. Then try re connecting. I hope these suggestions help as the game is definitely worth some time. Hopefully if you've managed to register you'll be able to troubleshoot after the giveaway. If I ignore message, patcher will load, files will install and then splash screen shuts itself off..back to desktop. Error repeats with every attempt. Patch repeats with every attempt. Nvidia driver updated today (Nvidia GeForce8800GT on this XP machine with 2G memory); haven't dared try it on new machines). Restart machine; error repeats. Monitor freq added to Saga; machine restarted; error repeats. Manually downloaded and installed patches; restart machine; error repeats. Reinstalled game; restart machine; error repeats. Network connections refreshed and double/triple-checked. Firewall, anti-spyware and anti-virus all off for these attempts (yeah, gotta live dangerously once in a while..it's good for the soul). Off, because UDP external ports were given (19691-19701) but my DSL modem demands an internal port also; unable to locate information on developer's site or GAoTD forums. I even registered/purchased the game and still am unable to get the thing to play. Perhaps increase timeout to infinity? Been years since I tried that one and doubt chemo-fog will clear long enough for me to remember how to do it. Could really use some suggestions on troubleshooting. Each booster pack should contain 10 cards. Click on the button that says Redeem The page that it takes you to has three buttons to the middle right of the page that say auto arrange, reveal all and redeem another. Your first boosters should be on the page, click on auto arrange to spread them out, then reveal all to see what you have, then click on redeem another, continue until you've redeemed all ten packs. You will be able to utilize these units later on when you start to build your land armies. Not all of them can be used at the beginning as you can only have 200 units to manage at the beginning of the game, though you can customize your armies, once you can afford to keep them. The units can be utilized/activated by clicking on the main building in your city which brings up a small window. Click on the third icon to manage your units. I'm not able to access the game at this time as the servers are down, so can't describe exactly what the icon looks like; the first one is to manage the peasants in your nation. Clicking on that one enables you to allocate the ones you have (which is 10 to start) to specific tasks such as building or farming, though farming wont be available until you've build a farm. I turned over 1 and it gave me an archer. But how to get into the game from here, and where will the booster cards go? This is more work than it was to do LOTR Return to Middle Earth. I just don't know what to do now, and there is only 6h and 57m to go in today. We're crossing our fingers that the changes will result in the client being far more stable when leaving battles for all users. Among the potential fixes are: Adjusted the manner in which we manage memory within SAGA - memory should now be less fragmented and significantly more efficient in most cases. Potentially resolved a longstanding issue which could cause battles to crash at the portal. Potentially resolved an issue which could cause battles to crash when trying to return to domain mode (also known as the after survey crash). Units can now be sent properly to and from the safe-land territories. Fixed another issue regarding opening game slots in the battle finder GUI. • 137.4 Patch Notes • 3 April 2008 Welcome to SAGA update 137.4! We're still heavily focused on identifying and knocking out the remaining crash issues affecting some of you. We made very significant strides this week and we're pretty excited - with a little luck we should be able to finish off most (if not all) of them for next weeks update (or sooner if possible). We're all very excited about being able to get back to normal here at the office - it's far more exciting to be adding in new content and game features/improvements rather than focusing on fixing stability. Other than stability fixes the primary updates are regarding raiding mechanics. God favor is again properly removed when going on raids. Raiding now requires at least one of your territories to have two full health manashard mines on it. The raid timer is also limited by the number of manashard mines on your territory with the most mana mines plus 1 minute. Manashard mines now produce at a reduced rate when damaged. Wilderness territories can now be returned to the safe lands. Doing so will sell all gold mines, lumber mills, stone quarries, manashard mines, and your Keep. All units on the territory will also be disbanded according the the keep changes. Arrows on graveyard window no longer affect chat. Selecting the Objectives window before a battle begins will no longer crash the client. Trade notes are now restricted to 60 characters. Resolved an issue with upkeep that could prevent a player from connecting to the game. Fixed an issue where peasant militia could not be deactivated properly before a PVP game had begun. Units which are holding ground no longer have an infinite range. Storehouse bonus for building information now always displays correctly. When a keep is destroyed, the units on that territory will now be disbanded instead of being lost to the void. Optimized RAM usage related to how textures were being stored. Added better log output regarding memory related issues. Adjusted the offset for the projected textures to help prevent collision with the terrain on lower end video cards. Battle finder should no longer allow players to open up slots improperly. We've all been so focused on helping track down the remaining crash issues that we weren't able to spend as much time as we'd anticipated on balance. However, we did manage to get a number of things adjusted and we'll continue to adjust as things progress. We're currently assessing things such as PVP stats, quest stats, and other numerous data sources to gather a fuller understanding of how things are currently performing in SAGA. Over the next several weeks and months there will be continuous adjustment as we tighten things down. With today's update the most notable adjustments are probably those made to how stuns and paralization work - in all cases the max duration was significantly reduced. Also within the ten packs that I've opened, human archers, human pikemen and a couple of others have been repeated at least three or four times over the ten sets of ten units. The reason I couldn't login is b/c my password was one character too long (took me a while to figure that one out). Apparently the online login allows larger pw's. So I created a whole new account with a different email and all and finally got in! Now, I don't know if it's just me, but I'm not getting an option to redeem my booster packs when I start the game from my desktop but I do get it online. Here's what I did.....after creating your account close the game and go to the Saga website at <a href="http://www.playsaga.com">Saga</a>. You'll be on a page with a video, above the video there's a "community site" link. Click the link and it takes you to the Forums page with a Saga "gameboard". On the top right of the game board there's a "My Nation" button, click it and you'll be at the login page. Save that to your favorites so you don't have to go through all the links next time. Login and you'll be on a Saga gameboard that is open to the "Buy boosters" page. At the top it will say "Unregistered" there's a register button.....don't click that button, you don't need to register, unless you want to of course, but then you have to pay. Below that is an option that says "Free Boosters 3 of 3" and there's a "Redeem" button to the right. Click that button to get your booster pack. (NOTE: You can only get one pack per day so you'll get the first one now and you'll have to go back tomorrow for the second and so on.) Once you do this you can go logoff, then go back to your desktop and start the game. Your new booster pack items will now be there. Bubby......I went to the website and it accepted my login but when I try to run the game from my desktop icon it says the pw is incorrect for that ID. On hubby's it's the same ID & PW for both so why won't mine work? Also I still get the "Build 137.5 (at least I think that was the number) every time I start the game. Should it do that every time. After the build I get a "Launch" button which takes me to the login page that won't let me login.....UGH!
