I LOVE this radio station:
http://www.pandora.com/

I copied and pasted this from their ABOUT Page:
...............................................

The Music Genome Project®

On January 6, 2000 a group of musicians and music-loving technologists came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever.

Together we set out to capture the essence of music at the most fundamental level. We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.

Since we started back in 2000, we've carefully listened to the songs of tens of thousands of different artists - ranging from popular to obscure - and analyzed the musical qualities of each song one attribute at a time. This work continues each and every day as we endeavor to include all the great new stuff coming out of studios, clubs and garages around the world.

It has been quite an adventure, you could say a little crazy - but now that we've created this extraordinary collection of music analysis, we think we can help be your guide as you explore your favorite parts of the music universe.

We hope you enjoy the journey.

Tim Westergren
Founder
The Music Genome Project
............................................................

It really works, after a few days of listening it seems to find music I like without wading through lots of songs I don't want to hear. You do have to register but there is no audio advertising that you have to listen to. You make your own "radio stations" that only plays music that you like. This is the first internet radio station that I've found that really makes listening to the radio fun again, with no talk and all music...I like it much better than real radio. OH, and it's free.

The Canadian indy band The Western Investor (formerly Feisty) have released their rare, out of print first EP as a remixable Creative Commons download (it's the band's tenth anniversary and they're celebrating). I've been listening to it for the past 20 minutes and there's plenty there to like. Some of these tracks appeared in the movie "Better Than Chocolate." Feisty - EP

#2 On Dick Rowe: Annoyed, he smoked a cigarette, went home and signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead. LOL

I'm even worse with 90's & 00's. Give me 60' & 70's instead!

Here Maizey:
20 Biggest Record Company Screw-Ups of All Time

I loved them all, some pointed to where everything went wrong in the industry.
For example:
#11 Geffen sues Neil Young!
#5 RIAA sues that young single mother. But then, they also sued dead people...
I actually sent money to her defence fund, that's how mad I was!!
#2 Decca Records. Now, for me this is hilarious:
- Groups with guitars are on their way out! Bwahawaaha

About the Cube Game:
You don't have to play in the 80's! Why don't u choose another decade?? ;-)

Manu, I didn't follow 80's mainstream music very much, so that's where I'm getting stuck. Hopefully, you and/or your Hubby will do better.

No I haven't seen the Blender article. I'll have to take a look. Thanks. :-)

Prog Archives intends to be the most complete and powerful progressive rock resource. You will find progressive rock music discographies, progressive rock bands, albums (LP, CD and DVD) reviews, user submitted videos, forum and related links. As of today, the discography lists 17,305 titles from exactly 3,395 bands.

I wonder if anyone has found much of interest in this thread? Has anyone tried this game yet? http://www.themusicube.com/ I keep going back to it. It must give you a cookie because it will continue wherever I left off. It's difficult for me to decipher some of the puzzles the first time.
